Chapter 1

Author's Note:

Just guessing where the Royal Rumble will taking place in this story. Also one of the things that happened in real life that I will put in this is Kurt Angle becoming the GM of Raw. Also the Superstar Shakeup did happen, but Dean stayed on Smackdown Live. This also takes place several months after How You Remind Me ended.

It was just a typical early January evening in Detroit, Michigan. It was cold as hell, about 15 degrees, but inside Little Caesars Arena, the temperature was rising.

On this Tuesday night, the arena was packed for the show that the WWE Universe now called "the A Show", Smackdown Live.

The crowd was electric, & the energy was off the charts. The fans were excited for tonight's show & for good reason.

The WWE World title was on the line due to Randy Orton vacating it due to "injury", & the battle was going to be between the Lunatic Fringe, Dean Ambrose, and the Lone Wolf, Baron Corbin, who had each won Fatal 4-ways the week before to earn their chance at the title.

These two had feuded before for the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania the year before, but this time the feud was much more intense & more personal because of what was at stake, & the fans were eating it up especially on social media.

The Smackdown women's title was also on the line, & it was a Fatal 4-way match between former champions Kristie V, Becky Lynch, Naomi, & Alexa Bliss.

Thanks to Mickie James vacating the title due to a knee injury that was going to put her out of action for up to 3 months, SDLive commissioner Shane McMahon and GM Daniel Bryan had decided that a Fatal 4-way was the best way to decide who would be champion going into the first big pay-per-view event of the year, the Royal Rumble, which would be taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Now Kristie was in the backstage area doing some stretches & getting herself warmed up before the match when she felt a pair of strong arms spin her around & wrap themselves around her waist.

"Hey, sexy," she purred as she looked into the blue eyes of her love, Dean Ambrose, who smiled & then kissed her.

Their relationship was still going strong after reconnecting over a year & a half ago. Sure, there were the marriage questions that were dogging them after they had publicly acknowledged their relationship in a Good Morning America interview, but overall things were great.

Now both were ready to reclaim the titles they had each lost at Battleground in Philadelphia.

The Fatal 4-way for the Smackdown women's title was up first, & it took place after a tag team match between the Usos and American Alpha.

After Naomi & Alexa were each introduced, Kristie came out & was greeted by massive cheers. Despite some complaints on some online wrestling forums about her in-ring character getting stale, she was still one of the most popular female wrestlers on Smackdown's roster & still got a huge reaction from the WWE Universe every night.

After her friend Becky Lynch came out, it was time.

The match was insane. All four gave it their all, but nobody seemed to be in control of the match, which had Nikki Bella, who was on commentary with Mauro Ranallo, JBL, & David Otunga, very concerned.

David noticed the worried look on her face first.

"You look worried, Nikki. Who do you think will take control of this match?" asked David. "I have no idea, but somebody's going to have to," said Nikki. JBL just groaned a bit.

"Can you at least take a guess on that?" asked JBL. Nikki thought about it for a bit.

However, she was shaken out of her thoughts by the sound of someone hitting the mat very hard.

Becky Lynch had slammed Alexa Bliss onto the mat using her Bexplex move, but then Naomi came in & began kicking her in the sides.

Kristie, meanwhile, was outside the ring after Naomi had thrown her out. She managed to get up & climb back in but was greeted by a kick by Alexa who yelled, "STAY OUT!"

Alexa then threw both Naomi & Becky out of the ring, but that proved to be a bad thing because Kristie climbed back in & speared her.

After that, she grabbed Alexa by the neck & pulled off her finisher, the Dirty Deeds, which was also her all-time favorite move. She got into the cover & got the 3-count.

Kristie was now a 3-time Smackdown women's champion.

She was immediately greeted with a hug from Nikki who said with a big smile, "Congratulations!"

After soaking in the huge cheers from the crowd, Kristie went backstage to Dean's locker room to watch his match against Baron Corbin for the WWE World title.

The match was intense. Baron pulled off a couple of Deep Sixes, which left Dean in a bit of pain, but he managed to get the big guy down with a swinging neckbreaker.

Then when the match went outside the ring, it got out of control.

After throwing each other around on the hard floor, Baron charged at Dean at full speed but slammed into the steel steps shoulder first, which resulted in him screaming in agony.

Dean then grabbed Baron & threw him back in the ring in order to avoid a count out. He then got himself ready to finish this match & reclaim that title.

However, Baron was ready & grabbed Dean before he could pull off the Dirty Deeds.

"Say goodbye, you son of a bitch!" yelled Baron as he prepared to do his finisher, End of Days.

However, he wasn't able to pull it off because of the intense pain in his shoulder. Dean capitalized on it & kicked Baron right in the gut. He then pulled off Dirty Deeds & got into the cover, getting a 3-count.

Kristie cheered like crazy in his dressing room as she watched him receive the belt. Despite watching the match on a flat-screen TV, she could see it in his eyes that he was happy that he had won.

When that was all over, the two were off to their home in Las Vegas to rest for a week.

They had no idea what drama was about to happen.
