My eyes flutter open, and I see Alice floating above me, Grandpa Carlisle next to her, dabbing at my face with a damp cloth. I feel a throbbing in that area, and I instinctively raise my hand to the wound. Grandpa touches my hand gently to stop it.
"Take these" He says quietly, careful not to worsen my headache.
He places a hand behind my back and helps me to sit up, then placing two white pills in my hand. I swallow them both without hesitation, and mutter a thanks. Alice smiles weakly. I know that she's either hiding something, or just acting very strange.
"Alice" I whisper. "What happened?"
My sister, alive? Rise, the girl who killed my grandparents, alive? Alice twirls a strand of my hair around her finger gently, and then places a kiss on my forehead.
"Get some sleep" She says.
I suddenly bolt upright, desperate for answers.
"Alice" I croak, pausing. "Rise"
A look of horror passes her face for a split second, as if 100 horrid memories were murdering her, being forced to come to mind.
"She's dead" She mutters, hysteria clearly bubbling in her throat. "Shes dead"
I can see her face becoming more hysterical, until she bursts.
"SHES DEAD SHES DEAD SHES DEAD SHES DEAD SHES DEAD!" She cries, banging her fist on the table.
I've never seen Alice like this before- broken. It isn't her at all. I slide off the bed in the hospital room, and walk towards her sobbing figure. I place a hand gently on her shoulder.
"Alice" I begin. "Is Rise alive?"
She turns around slowly to lock eyes with me. Her golden eyes are stricken with distraught.
"I don't know" she whispers, in clear pain.
She takes hold of my hand, serious.
"But if she is" she begins "We have no hope"
I shake my head.
"Yes we do, Alice. We do have hope. We have YOU, and Jasper, Emmet, Rose, Carlisle, Jacob, Nessie, and Esm-" I begin, avoiding the words I would use such as 'Mum' to give her the full impact.
As I'm about to finish my sentence, a scream rings throughout the house. No, no, no. A scream like that means something bad. Something BAD. No. I use super speed to rush to where the horrified screech came from, and find myself in Rose and Emmets room. Rose is laying on the bed in her pyjamas after complaining yesterday she felt somewhat ill (as vampires can't get sick). She's screaming, her blonde hair sprawled around her. Nobody's there except Grandpa Carlisle.
"Grandpa?" I say, shocked to the bone. "What's wrong?"
I'm shaking all over from shock and despair; so much has happened in so little time. Grandpa looks up at me, horror glazing his face for the first time.
"I don't know" He shouts.
He cautiously looks at Rose, searching her for wounds of some sort.
"Rose. Tell me what's happened He orders, looking into her eyes.
She stifles a scream and shakes her head to say 'I can't say' or 'I don't know'. I run beside her on the other side of the bed.
"Rose. It isn't that- bad? Is it?" I whisper in worry to my best friend, avoiding the words that I knew would have to be said- is it the end?
She breathes out and looks at me, hurt and worry in her eyes.
"Rose!" I shout, desperate to save my only friend. "Where does it hurt?"
I sound like a mother talking to her young daughter, but it gives us some information. She places her shaking hand onto her womb area. Maybe an old man or a middle-aged woman cant figure it out, but I certainly can. It's so unbelievable that I slump back it my chair and laugh. Grandpa stares at me as if I've got mad, which is how I feel- mad. Rose is giving birth. A vampire is giving birth.
"Grandpa" I begin. "Rose is giving birth"
He stares at me as if I'm stupid.
"Isame, get with it. Vampires can't get pregnant. It's IMPOSSIBLE!" He states.
I sigh. Of course I'm being stupid, vampires CANT be pregnant or give birth, or even feel pain. Wait. Vampires can't feel pain. Rose is a vampire. She's certainly feeling pain. The impossible is already happening, so her giving birth seems just as likely as her feeling pain- which is happening right now. The impossible is possible, which means that Rose is giving birth. I rush to explain this to Grandpa.
"VAMPIRES CANT FEEL PAIN EITHER, SO THE IMPOSSIBLE IS POSSIBLE, GRANDPA! SO ITS LIKELY THAT ROSE IS ABOUT TO HAVE A CHILD" I shout above the yelling and screaming, as the rest of the family has arrived.
Grandpa and everyone in the room stares at me, and is silent. The only sound is Rose breathing out in relief, as if the pain has stopped. Then, five seconds later, we hear the sound of a crying baby. Our jaws fall open with shock as we realise I'm right. How did Rose just have a child? What's happening? How have I just gained a newborn Aunt or Uncle? How? How? HOW? Emmet steadies himself, and takes a few, slow steps towards the end of the bed. He reaches his arms by Roses feet, and gently picks up a small blood-smothered newborn. Despite the confusion event, a small smile spreads across his face.
"I'm guessing this is my son" He smiles.
Rose nods, mirroring her husbands mouth. I'm shocked how they're finding the beauty in the moment, but I appreciate the speciality. After all, although my Mum was a newborn during their time, this is Rose and Emmet's first proper child. I hear a sniff from Gran, the lover of children, the nurturer, as she must be seeing the amazement in the event. I hear a sob from her, and look up to see a few rebel tears leaking down her stained face. I smile. Suddenly, a squeak escapes her lips. I look at her with curiosity.
"Gran?" I question.
She takes a deep, shaky breath.
"This is the first time I've cried in 120 years" She whispers.
