Hopeless

I lay on my towel under the sun. Not a single cloud lingered in the sky.
"Meghan? What took you guys so long?" Riley asked me.
"It's a long story" I say sitting up.
"None of us are leaving any time soon" she argues.
"Yeah, spill" Stacey says rising from her slumber.
Jordan and Sophie chipped into the argument and gave me no option.
"Alright, alright" I laugh
They all sat up and waited for me to begin.
"So, this morning Eli hired us bikes and we rode around town for a bit" I started
"Then we came across this jewellery store and Eli was insisted that we went in."
"Oh my god he didn't propose did he?" Jordan asks
"What? No!" I say laughing.
"Anyway, he comes out and gives me a box." The girls start to gain interest
"And inside was this bracelet with two hearts, one had M and the other E" I say smiling.
They began 'aww'ing me and saying how I'm lucky and such.
"And then-" I started
"There's more?" Brooklyn said frowning
I nod
"He asked me out" I say smiling again
The 'awww's came and went.
"That's so cute that he bought that for you, you have to show us later" Sophie says to me
A chorus of 'yeahs' and 'yes' lights up around the conversation.
Soon everyone returned to laying around.
I grabbed my sunglasses and placed them over my eyes.
I noticed the sliding door move and I glanced over at Liam carrying a few plastic bags and pizza boxes.
"Food!" He shouts
I pounce up and race for the boxes.
"Please tell me you got a cheese pizza" I say to him.
He passes me a box and a paper plate and smiles
"Stacey said you'd like that" he says
I open the box and my eyes light up
I grab a few slices and thank him mid bite.
I glance over at the bags and ask him about them
"Drinks" he says
I put down my plate and look into the bags to find a large assortment of beer and cider along with a few bottles of vodka.
"Boys, help me get these on ice" he says to some of the lads.
They nod in agreement and head inside to gather ice and a cooler.
I grab a warm cider and contemplate drinking.
Eli walks out with a bag of ice and I head toward him.
I ripped open a small hole in the bag and grabbed a handful.
"Gee Megs, can't you wait like 10 minutes?" He says laughing
"Nope" I say, dropping the ice into the can.
I wait a few seconds for the ice to melt in, then I take a swig and smile at the familiar taste of apple and pear.

Eli's POV

I sat next Tom and Liam for a while and we talked for a bit.
"Pass me another beer would you?" I ask Liam. He obliges and passes me another cold can.
"Cheers" I say opening it and taking a drink.
I watch as Meghan sits and chats to the other girls. I see her smile and the little dimples that form on her cheeks are super cute.
"Whipped" Liam says drinking from his can.
I punch him lightly on the shoulder
"Shut up" I say jokingly
"But for real, your dating right?" Brandon asks "Quentin-"
"Q" he corrects remaining in a relaxed position
"Q wouldn't tell us. Said that it was your story to tell" he explains
"Yeah we are" I told them, still watching her
"Wait you are?" Q says popping his head up from where he was lying down.
"Yep, asked her out this morning" I explain smiling
Q stares at me for a second "Thats really good mate" he finally says
The other boys congratulate me and I close my eyes, going back to relaxing. Well I would have until a cold liquid was poured on me.
My eyes dart open and I look up to see Meghan standing over me with cups in her hand.
Still shocked from the cold my jaw hung and wouldn't close
She smiled then ran off
"No, you're not getting away with that" I say and chase after her.
I catch up easily but I stay behind her a bit and soak up the moment. She's laughing uncontrollably and almost trips over a few things, including people, specifically Stacey.
"What the hell?!" She says sprinting up from her position
"What are you doing?!" She yells
"Eli...water...running" Meghan pants
Seeing that she was exhausted I grabbed her by the waist and she started to giggle. I lay her down on her towel and placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Your a psycho sometimes you know?" I say smiling
She giggles again and I quickly peck her on the lips. I smile and return back to my old position next to Q.

"Mega cute!" Jordan squeals
I blush a bit and she squeals some more.
"So adorable" she says lying back down
I really do love that boy. I look down at the bracelet he got me and a smile returns to my face.
How did I ever hate him?
