Erika helped Kenji get out of the entry plug and sat on the sandy desert ground, right under the view of the bright moon. They were waiting for NERV to pick them up and decide to sit back and enjoy the night sky.

"The moon's shining" Erika commented. "It's...beautiful".

"Do you enjoy seeing the moon very often, third child?" Kenji asked while looking at it.

"Yeah, and...I would prefer if you called me by my name" she suggests.

"Well then...Erika, do you miss her?" Kenji asks again.

"Who?".

"Your mother" he started.

"Well...yeah. I really do miss her" she answered. "Do you miss your mother?".

Kenji looked down on the ground as her heard her ask him.

"My mother...taught and demonstrated many interesting things to me" he responded. "She showed me a feeling that I have yet to understand to this day".

"What kind of feeling?".

"The one known as love" h answered.

"You really loved her didn't you?".

"Yes...I guess I did".

During that time of peaceful silence, Erika pulled out her digital audio tape player and began to hear her music.

"Where did you get it?" Asked Kenji. "The cassette player?"

"It belonged to my mother" she explained. "A friend of hers... gave it to me so that I could remember the things she enjoyed".

"Could I...?".

"Sure".

Erika gave him an earphone and the both began to listen to the song. It was by frank Sinatra.

"What's the title?" Kenji asked her.

"Fly Me to the Moon" Erika explained. "My mom used to sing me this when I had trouble sleeping".

"It's...a beautiful song" he commented.

"Yeah, it is beautiful".

The 14 year old Eva pilots both looked up at the moon, relaxing from all of the conflict that would come later on.

Meanwhile, in an unknown place

"7 of the 28 fallen angels are down" said a monolith named SEELE-03. "Everything is going as planned".

"But we have yet to find the others" said another named SEELE-05.

"What about the costs?" Said the one named SEELE-02. "It's already enough the US military and NERV having their budgets overflown?".

"The money does not matter" Said SEELE-01. "What's important is that we're going according to plan. We must now begin forward with the Human Instrumentality Project".
