-4 months later-

Mitch’s P.O.V

“Keira baby, time to get up” I say softly shaking her shoulder. She groaned “Nuh, let me sleep” I laugh a little, “Come on, we’ve got appointment with midwife today. We get to see our baby again” She was soon awake being excited. Turning on the stove I then cooked us some pancakes. I placed a few onto a plate for the both of us. I finished swallowing some pancake then asked, “Have you thought of any names yet?” She smiled and nodded. “Well?” I asked.

“Well for a girl I was thinking Maddison or Lexi but for a boy I was thinking Zach, Noah or Bentley. What do you think?” I thought at this for a second to which I then replied, “Maddison for a girl and for a boy probably Noah” I placed my hand on Keira’s slow growing bump “Either way it will have the two best parents it could wish for” I then leaned in and collided with Keira’s lips. After pulling out the kiss I stand up. Keira places the plates into the dishwasher. Holding out my hand I say “Come on, let’s go see our baby” I smile waiting for her to grab it.

Our hands were entwined as we left the apartment building. We got into the car and left for our appointment. On arrival we checked in and took a seat waiting to be called. I noticed Keira’s leg bouncing. I place my hand on her thigh, “Are you alright?” I asked looking at her. “Yeah, just excited” She smiled. A woman dressed in blue poked her head out of a room. “Keira Reed please” I grabbed her hand as we stood up and she sighed. As we walked over to the room we greeted the midwife with a smile and friendly handshake.

Keira sat on the bed rolling up her shirt. I sat on the chair beside her holding her hand. She giggled as the gel is placed onto her stomach as it is cold.

Keira’s P.O.V

I giggled as the cold gel was placed on my stomach. The midwife fiddled around before she pointed to the screen. Smiling she says “There’s your baby”. I looked at Mitch who was tearing up. I began tearing up and I giggle “There’s our baby Mitch” I say. He wipes his eyes and smiles. “Aw, don’t cry” I say rubbing his face. The midwife looks at Mitch and giggles. “Just wait till you give birth, the men are sometimes worse than the women.” We all laugh at this. During our conversation we can hear the baby’s heartbeat. “Okay, since your five months, you can find out the gender. Would you like to know?” My head shoots over at Mitch. “Shall we?” I ask. He shrugs his shoulders, “I’d like to, but I’d like it to be a surprise when he or she gets here. It’d be more emotional for the both of us.”

I agree turning back to the Midwife. “I think we’ll keep it as a surprise” I smile. She nods her head printing off the scan pictures. During the journey home we stopped off at a framing shop to get the scan pictures framed. They were going to go in the office next to the pictures of me and Mitch. Back at home I sit on the couch snuggling Mitch. “Hey Mitch” I say quietly. “Yeah babe” He replied munching on some crisps. “When he or she gets here, there’s something I’ve always wanted to do when I have a baby.” I look at him and he looks down at me, “And what is that?” He asks. I sit up, “Well we get some plaster cast and while it’s wet we make a heart shape and then put the baby’s feet in the middle. Then when it dries it can be hung up on a wall somewhere” He smiles. “That would be perfect in the nursery on the wall next to the crib” I snuggle back up to him. “Yeah. It would.” I yawn and close my eyes falling into a fantasy dream world.
