The sky was gloomy the next morning, perfectly reflecting how Bai Luo Yin was starting to feel as he made his way to school. The calm before the storm. He had already made up his mind to do this. There was no turning back.
As he entered the class, he found Gu Hai already at his seat lost in thought. As soon as he laid eyes on Bai Luo Yin, he beamed slightly. To Bai Luo Yin's surprise, he didn't utter a single word. Though he felt Gu Hai's gaze on him as always, his silence persisted.
Finally the lunch break arrived and Bai Luo Yin got up.
"Let's have that talk now." A familiar voice startled him.
He turned to find Gu Hai merely inches beside him with his piercing gaze.
Bai Luo Yin hesitated. "Now? School's not over yet"
"Let's ditch the rest of the lessons." Gu Hai said as if it should have gone without saying.
Bai Luo Yin had been thankful that there was still hours before he had to spill the beans. He had been dreading the inevitability of that conversation. But now this idiot was suggesting they get right down to it! He started thinking of some excuses.
"Um..no I can't really afford to miss those lessons." He didn't sound as convincing as he intended to be.
Gu Hai's gaze didn't waver. "Do you enjoy making me wait like this ha?"
Bai Luo Yin gritted his teeth. "Just be patient."
Gu Hai watched him for a few seconds angrily.
"Fine. I'll go wait in the library. I can't concentrate on anything now." He said picking up his bag and walked out.
Bai Luo Yin sat back down lost in thought. Maybe I should just get it over with. He's already pissed at me anyway.
Minutes later, Bai Luo Yin found himself entering the library. His eyes searched till it landed on that familiar figure between two tall book racks. He was standing by a large window at the corner, watching the heavy rain outside.
With his hands in his pockets, Bai Luo Yin slowly approached him.
"I feel sorry for all these books." Bai Luo Yin said casually.
Gu Hai turned instantly, fairly surprised to see him there. Then he thought about Bai Luo Yin's statement. "Why?"
"Cause you're more interested in the rain."
"It's not rain that I'm interested in." He expected Bai Luo Yin to comprehend the hidden meaning.
Bai Luo Yin slowly took a step back and started focusing on the books as if it was the first day he's seeing such things.
"Did you come here to continue tormenting me ah?" Gu Hai said in a low voice. He purposefully let a thumb brush Bai Luo Yin's wrist.
Bai Luo Yin's heartbeat started racing. "I liked you better when you were silent." He snapped.
Gu Hai ignored his remark. "I'm done waiting. Now tell me!"
Bai Luo Yin felt his courage start to waver! Maybe it's cause of the atmosphere.
"Not here!" he said.
"Why?"
"This is a library! How can we properly discuss anything here ha? We'll end up disturbing everyone."
