" this is it " my dad looked at me with sad eyes , he looked so much older as he turned back to look at the prison , I could tell he was thinking of unhappy memories.
I took a look at the prison myself. It was over run with walkers , the fences were down and the walker guts stained every wall. It didn't look like a happy place , maybe it did 16 years ago , when I was born. " I want to visit her grave " , I tried to make eye contact with my dad , but he just looked at the ground , his hands on his hips , his lips pursed together. " we can't Judith . We'll die trying to get there "  he whispered , still looking down. " we can at least try , please dad , let me see it , I need to " I tried , stepping closer to him and putting a hand on him shoulder . He looked up at me ,he looked like he was about to cry . " We can try , but we go in there in the car , and you  don't get out until it's safe " " Dad I can do this , I've been raised to kill walkers , we can do this " he looked to the prison , then back at me . " ok , let's do this "

We drove into the prison with the windows down , shooting every walker that hadn't gone to the fire we lit at the other side of the prison . After a while the field was clear enough for us to get out , we had killed all the walkers that were in sight . I turned and looked at the four graves . " Which one is it ? " I asked my dad . He pointed to the second one to the right , it had a cross on it . I looked up at him , his eyes were fixed on her grave . I reached down and grabbed his hand , and we walked over .

I  looked at the cross , Carl told me he had engraved her age and name into it, but you couldn't read it now , so I pulled out my knife and engraved it again , I also added " beloved mother " . Dad , who had been staring at the cross with a blank face , looked down at  me and smiled , then  he said " you're more like her than you'll ever know " . A tear slid down my cheek , so I turned around to find some kind of flower , I didn't want dad to see me crying .
A
We  stayed there a little longer , then when more walkers started coming . Dad kissed his two fingers and put them on the cross , then he pulled me into a hug . He whispered so quietly " I'm sorry you'll never have a mom "
