Chapter 2: The Day

Lauren's P.O.V

(6 years later)

Today's the day! It's my 16th Birthday!

I'm going to shift and all my problems

will disappear. Evelyn is now 20 and

shifted 4 years ago. She said it hurts

like hell. My Father is very ill right

now and we don't think he's going to

make it. My brother Anthony started

the Alpha position yesterday. I think

he's going to help our pack a lot. My

mother is in a very depressed state

right now and i don't know how i can

help her. All of us are gathered in his

room right now saying our good byes.

My siblings and their mates were just

sitting there bowing their heads in

respect. My dad called me over and

motioned me to kneel by his bed.

"Lauren" I heard him call out. I

quickly ran over to the side of his bed.

" Lauren, I expect you to do big things

for this pack and the world" my dad

whispered in my ear. I nodded with a

tear rolling down my face. He handed

me an envelope and whispered "happy

birthday" . Those were the last words

he said "happy birthday" then he

slowly drifted off. The sound of my

mother crying filled the room i gave

her a huge hug. Everyone was

silent until my brother's phone rang.

He mouthed to us " I have to take this"

and walked out of the room.

Anthony's P.O.V

Right when my father passed and my whole family was crying, my phone goes off. Lauren turned to me and gave me her death stare. I mouthed that i had to take it even though i didn't know who it was yet. I walked out and answered it " Hello Anthony... I mean Alpha Teal". "Hello Alpha, its Beta Murphy, we have a couple of rogues that snuck onto our territory." I didn't know what to say. My father just died and my family is in a very fragile state. I quickly said "ill be right there". I didn't even bother going back into the room where my family was. I knew Lauren would be angry. She was always looked at as the weak link in our family just because she was the youngest. I feel bad for her, this day was suppose to be the best day of her life, the day she shifts for the first time! But instead she's mourning her father's death. I was half way to the pack house when i heard my phone ring again. It was my mom. I let it ring a couple times before answering it. I picked it up " Hello" i said. It wasn't my mom, it was Lauren and boy was she mad. She was screaming at me and crying ant the same time. "Why would you just leave like that!" she screamed. My ear was ringing from her voice. I was hurting just as much as she was. I didn't want to deal with her on top of all this. So I said in my alpha tone " Stop, we'll talk when i come home." I heard a faint whimper and the call ended. What did i just do.
