The dinner started off smoothly with my parents talking to Jace's parents, Discussing what they had done over the years they had not seen each other. My youngest brother was smiling at Ink across the table and i was trying to avoid looking at Jace, because i knew that as soon as i did i would turn pure red and i didn't really want to embarrass myself and look like a tomato in front of him.
"So Tala, how old are you now?" Jace's father asked after swallowing a mouthful of food.
"i'm 16 right now, but i'll be turning 17 next month" I replied shoving a forkful of food into my mouth before anyone could ask me something else.
Jace's mom Ivy obviously didn't get the message that i didn't exactly want to talk to anyone though and started babbling to me, "Have you found your mate yet dear?" she asked sounding like an overexcited best friend.
I cringed at the sound and even thought of having a mate, again the fact that i didn't want one running through my mind, "No, i haven't yet. But soon right?" i replied with a small smile. Inside hating the fact that i had just said that.
"Our Jace hasn't found his mate either, or he has but just wont tell his poor mother who the lucky girl is"
Jace glared at her from down the table, as if telling her to shut up and not to give any information away to us.
I glanced down at him and saw a strange look in his eyes a look i had never seen before and had no idea what it was, but none the less it was comferting to look into his eyes. That is until he quickly moved his head away and started eating his food again.
After that small conversation the dinner was well, boring with the adults speaking about the goings on of the pack and the new house Jace's family were going to be living in from now on. I felt Jace watching me on occasion but everytime that i looked up he was glaring at his plate stabbing food onto his fork with extreme agression.
They left not long after the dinner but not before inviting us to dinner at thier house the following week, saying that we would have a small house warming party to make the place feel a bit more like home.
