"Follow your passion. It will lead you to your purpose."-Oprah Winfrey
My whole life there's been one thing that makes me feel free. One thing that transforms me, takes me to another place.
Most people enjoy art or soccer or where I live, surfing. They have a passion. Sometimes an obsession.
Mine, is dance. When I dance my heart races with joy and compassion. For those of you that have an obsession as mine you'll understand that nothing else really seems to matter. Nothing even comes close to as satisfying as that one thing.
Deep down you always know and tell yourself that absolutely nothing will ever distract you from it.
If you're a hockey player you tell yourself you will play in the NHL someday. If you're a soccer player, you hope to make it to the world cup. And if you're a dancer like me, the stage.
I've just completed my final year at dance school. Where we prepare ourselves for a future in dance. My dream is to be a professional.
Bascically the top of my priority list a couple weeks ago was getting into a good dance school.
So far I've sent an application to two different academies. One in Australia, and one in Russia. I live in California. I'm sure your thinking 'wow! Russia and Australia are pretty far from California,' and you would be right. It took me a long time to decide where to go. But in the end I knew I only wanted the best school with the biggest chance of succeeding. Most teenagers my age are into surfing, skateboarding, and stuff like that. But me. I'm a little different.. Dancing is my thing. All I ever used to think about was getting into a school where I could really shine. Become an even better dancer. Hence the distance.
At first the only problem was my parents. They don't exactly have faith in my idea of a future, and don't like spending so much money on my dancing. They do it anyway though, I guess that's how love works...
Now I kind of wish that was my only problem...
I would explain right off the bat but for you to really understand we have to go back a little bit.. Exactly 8 months ago is when this all began.
Oh and before I forget!
A quick word of advice, my story gets better near the end so keep reading!
