One, two, three!

"Hey. What did Matt say?" I asked Val as soon as she returned.

"He said ya. It will probably take him about 15-20 minutes though."

"Okay, there was this guy I met a few minutes ago and he accidently left his phone here so he's coming to pick it up."

"When?" She asked, a worried look on her face.

"In about 15 minutes. Why?"

"Matt said he was in a hurry...
Why don't you just invite him to Matt's house for the party?"

"Am I allowed?" Why didn't I think of that!

"Ya! Why not?"

"Okay!"

I reached for his phone and tried to unlock it to see the recent phone call so that I could get his number, but right as I did my phone starting ringing.

"Ooh! That's probably him!"

I put the phone to my ear, and answered cheerily.

"Hey!"

"Uhh, hi. Is this Bench girl? Sorry I still haven't gotten your name..."

"Hi! Yes this is bench girl. My name is Kat."

"Kat." he repeated."nice to meet you Kat."

"So my friend is going to be here to pick us up any minute. He's taking us to his house for a party. You can come if you want."

"Ummm... I don't know. I was going to call my sister to see if she was at her friends house and then pick her up..." he said.

"Well, you can bring her with you."

"I don't know... Will your friend mind?"

"Of corse not!!!" I said. "Matt always has random people at his parties. He probably won't even notice that your there. I'll wait for you outside, K?"

"Uhhh.... sure." He said. He didn't sound too sure....

"Cool! See you soon!" With that I hung up before he could change his mind.

"Okay he's coming!!" I said to Val.

She was giving me a strange look...

"What?" I asked.

"What do you mean what?"

"What are you looking at me like that for?" I repeated.

"How am I looking at you." she said.

She was definitely playing dumb.

"Val!!! Your looking at me like I just told you I'm from mars!"

She started to laugh.

"What's so funny?!" I whined.

"You!" she replied."Okay! Great see you soon!" She mocked, making me sound ridiculous.

She added some kissing noises at the end just to prove her point.

"Whatever Val!" I said, irritated.

"Sorry but this guy must be really good looking for you to be acting like this..."

"How am I acting!?" I asked defensively.

"Your practically drooling just talking about him." She giggled.

"I am not!" I frowned.

"Okay! Okay! I'm just teasing you! Calm down princess!" She said, obviously realizing how frustrated I was getting. " You really need to open that letter or you're gonna murder someone..."

"Uggggghhh! Why do you have to be so annoying Val!!?" I groaned.

We sat there in silence for a few minutes. I don't know why but I get really mad, really fast every time someone teases me.... Some people say I can't take a joke, or that I'm too serious.

I just don't like to be made fun of that's all.

"Kat?" Val said.

I looked in her direction.

"Yeah?"

"I'm excited to see this guy..." She said cracking a smile.

We both laughed.

Val was one of those friends that overlooks your flaws.

She makes light over any situation.

Every time I was mad or sad, even if it wasn't her fault, she fixed it, pushed it aside and acted as if I was completely normal.
Except I wasn't...I got frustrated and stressed a lot...

"So when are you going to open the letter?" She asked. "I'm kind of freaking out myself waiting to open the thing."

When was I going to?
What was I really waiting for?

"I- I don't know.... I'm kinda scared and can't move myself to do it..."

She was about to say something.
I could tell by her facial expression that she was discerning whether she should say it or not.

"What about right now...?"

She asked.

I thought for a moment...
Should I?

"Come on Kat! You said after class. What are you waiting for!? Be spontaneous!"

"Sure." I whispered, barely audible.

"What?" She asked, wanting me to repeat it just to be sure.

"Sure!" I said much louder this time.

"Oh my goodness! Are you kidding? Please tell me your serious!!"

"Yessss! I'll open it!"

She squealed, whipping out her letter.

"Was that in your hand this whole time?" I asked, surprised at how fast she whipped it out.

"Of corse it was!" She exclaimed.

I slowly and carefully pulled out my envelope.

My heart started pounding quickly.

If it was beating any harder it would burst right out of my chest.

"Val.. I- I-"

I don't think I can open it, I thought.

"Kat." Val said, her voice soft and calming. "it's okay! You had to of gotten in, and if you don't open it now, you never will!"

I thought carefully before nodding.

"Okay" she said. "On three."

"One, twoooo," she stared down at her letter thinking carefully before continuing "three!"

We both ripped open our envelopes and pulled out the contents.

I was getting really sweaty and could hardly breathe..

I focused in on my paper, trying to read the words written on it.

I gasped! "OMG!!! VAL!!!"
