*beep*.......*beep*.......*beep*
When you hear that annoyingly consistent beep noise there's no guessing where you could possibly be.
I know that sound all too well.
That gross hospital smell along with the weird noises that come with it is all too familiar to me.When I was little,
(According to the doctors) I had a disorder, that would cause me to be paralyzed.
My parents were devastated. They wanted me to live my life happily and wanted their baby to be okay. They had no idea how to raise a child who couldn't walk. After what felt like millions of tests, the doctors concluded that it was in fact a bad but treatable virus and I was able to return home shortly thereafter.Ever since my parents have freaked out everytime I felt sick or had an injury from dancing or something.
They take me to the doctors at the slightest pain, and over react about everything.
I know they love me and mean well but seriously!
If they were in this room with me right now they would probably be sobbing, making it seem like I had a terminal disease or something.Wait a second....
I quickly opened my eyes and sat up abruptly.
"Mom? Dad?" I slurred.
"Shhhh.... Kat it's okay. Lay back down."
"Logan?"
"Hey, how are you feeling?" he questioned, looking concerned.
"Alright...I think... My head kinda hurts."
"Okay, I'll get a nurse. Just a sec!" He said getting up quickly and making his way to the door.
"No, Logan it's fine. It's just a little headache."
"Okay, well I'll just tell them that your awake."
"Wait!"
He stopped and turned to face me.
"Are my parents here?"
"Uhh...No. I-I'm the only one here."
"You're the only one? What do you mean? Where's Matt and Val?"
"Uh, I don't know. I saw you get hit with that wave. It was a big one... I started to swim out and as soon as I reached you, you were uncontious. I rushed you to the beach and gave you CPR but you only woke up for a second before you started throwing up and then went uncontious again... so I looked around for Matt and Val but, they were nowhere. I couldn't see them so I just rushed you to the car and sped here. I tried calling them but, no answer."
"Crap."
"What's wrong?"
"I know this sounds stupid but, did you get my board?"
"No, it was broken and I was more worried about you. Why?"
"Never mind. It was just my brothers and he's probably gonna kill me but that's okay...
Wait, You know CPR?""Haha, yeah. Surfing can be pretty dangerous sometimes. My parents made me take a class last year just in case.
I'm really happy now that I did." He said, combing his hand through his hair."You saved my life." I said, in admiration.
He turned bright red with embarrassment. It was the cutest thing I had ever seen.
"I'm sorry," I giggled "I didn't mean to embarrass you!"
"Haha, no. I just, uh, I didn't think about that. I'm just really glad you're okay."
I smiled. Logan was definitely the nicest guy I had ever met. So sweet, and caring, and selfless.
"Thank you Logan." I said.
"No problem." He beamed back at me. After a couple of seconds he continued,
"You know, even though we just met, I feel like I've known you forever. Like you're the only girl I've ever really had fun around." he paused as though searching for the right words. "You're a pretty cool person and if anything had happened to you today I would have been..." he trailed off, looking at the ground now."Thanks." I smiled, weakly. "for everything."
He looked up from the ground and straight into my eyes.
We sat there like that, just looking, for what felt like forever. A very good forever.
And for the millionth time that week, I felt a gleeful tingle in my stomach.
