Dance talk

"Hey, how's it going?" I asked, making my way over to one of my best friends.

"Hey Kat! I haven't seen you in a whole week! Where have you been?"

"I was busy all week recording my dancing to send in to the dance academies I'm applying for. I had to do live chats with the schools to interview and talk about my grades and how school would work if I were to go there."

"Oh right, dance stuff. What else could possibly be new in your life." He said sarcastically.

"Whatever! It's not like you never talk about your weirdo surfing!"

"Hey! Surfing is actually cool and requires talent!"

"And dancing doesn't?!!??"

"I don't know. You tell me."

"Alright!" I began

"Kidding! I don't need you to explain how hard ballet is for the millionth time."

"Whatever Matt."

"Hey! What are you guys talking about?"

"Val!! I haven't seen you in ages!! How was the trip to Europe?!"

"Calm down Kat! I've only been gone a month!"

"Only!? That's a long time!"

"Ya, I guess. I missed everyone so much! It was so incredibly fun though!!!"

"I'm glad you had fun! Did you get a chance to send in your video and schedule a live chat meeting?"

"I've been back like 5 minutes and you're already talking about dance. What did I expect."

I chuckled a bit. Like I said, I'm a little bit obsessed.

"Yes, I did send in a video, and I had my live chat meeting when I was in Europe." She said answering my question.

"Great! How did it go?"

Suddenly Matt lets out an exaggerated sigh. "Okay. That's enough dance talk for me."

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"Somewhere I can actually talk about something interesting." He replies.

"Aww, Matt! Don't go! We were just catching up!!" Val whines.

"I'll talk to you guys later." Matt waved.

"I should probably get going too. I have an appointment with my doctor before dance class. Wanna meet up for ice cream later though?" I say.

"Sure! See you later Kat!"

As I walk away my mind starts fluttering, filling with thought.
'This is going to be a good year I say to myself.

Just then my phone vibrates.

New message
I open the message to see a new text from my mother urging me to hurry up or I'll be late for my doctors appointment.

I don't even understand why I have these stupid checkups. My parents are always obsessing about how dancing can cause all kinds of injuries and that my health is important. It is the most annoying thing!

I rush over to the car and get in.

"Hey Hun. How was school today?"

"Good mom." I smile.

Since the doctors office near my dance class is a 25 minute drive from my school I decide to take a nap on my way there.
As I close my eyes and await sleep, I breath out with a long sigh. Suddenly feeling exhausted. All the running around - applying for academy's and dancing, plus school- is making me tired and I can't wait for the upcoming brake I'll have this weekend.

Slowly but timely I'm swallowed by darkness as I fell asleep.
