Chapter 4: Reunion

     I had survived surgery, and was brought back at like 2 in the morning while Hannah was asleep. I have a brace on my wrist because of a torn muscle, bandage all around my head, and another brace on my leg to hold the rod in my leg in place due to a broken femur. It was 10:23 am, and Hannah was walking around the hospital like she always does, I decided to do the same but walk in a different direction than her.
     There was someone at the front desk looking for me. He looked familiar, but I couldn't quite analyze it. He turned around and I knew instantly. It was Jake, Jake was a childhood friend who moved away right before 7th grade started and we haven't heard from him since. Jake had switched schools to go to a really fancy smart kid private school. Hannah was over here now too and as soon as she noticed him, she ran up and hugged him. The real question was why was here, after all these years? "Why are you here?" Hannah asked letting go of her grip around his neck. "I just heard about Sadie." He replied. How did he just find out? It happened fucking 16 days ago. I guess news doesn't travel that fast to where he lives.
     Hannah lead him to my room. He couldn't say anything, he just sat down and kept saying he was sorry. I felt bad, like it was my fault. He got up trying to hide his tears, he grabbed his bag and brought out a stuffed bear, but it wasn't any stuffed bear, I had that bear ever since I was like 5 months old, and I carried it around with me everywhere. How did he have it? It went missing a couple days before he left. I had so many questions but I couldn't ask them, they just had to stay in the back of my mind. He told Hannah to go home and see her family and go get her school work, and that is exactly what she did.
