I loved all your comments on the last chapter! I guess I really got you with that twist.

As soon as those words left her mouth, all the air left my lungs. It felt like someone had dropped a cylinder block on my chest, preventing me from sucking in any air and leaving me to die. I'm Violet, Ross' wife

Wife. Ross' wife. Ross, the man I was supposed to be dating, had a wife.

She cocked her head to the side, as if her admission had absolutely no effect me. She doesn't know you're dating her husband. My stomach flopped around, and I could almost feel the bile rise in my throat as my hands trembled. "I don't think I got your name. Who are you? And why are you in Ross' apartment?"

I couldn't open my mouth to speak or utter a word.

But I didn't have to.

Ross chose that moment to come into view, his face losing any color, his eyes going wide as he took in his wife's appearance. I'm gonna be sick. He soon lost his shocked expression, replacing it with one of anger. "Violet. What the hell are you doing here?"

Turning away from me, pretty much ignoring my presence, she replied, "I wanted to talk to you. We need to straighten everything out."

"There's no straightening anything out," he all but growled. His jaw was clenched, his teeth gritted together. "You cheated on me. Countless times, you cheated. There's no straightening out anything. I told you when I left that I didn't want to see you ever again. I know you got the divorce papers. That should've made it crystal clear that I didn't want you in my life anymore."

"I was an idiot for hurting you," she moved closer to him, placing her hands on his chest as she leaned in. "I love you and I know you still love me."

The struggle to take in a single breath was becoming more and more difficult. Tears were blurring my vision, obstructing the view in front of me. I have to get out of here.

I could feel Ross' gaze on me as he pushed Violet off him, clearly denying her advances. I backed away as he moved closer to me, a pained expression on his face. "Erin,"

Hearing him say my name was the breaking point for me. I shook my head, forcing the sob to stay in my throat as I hurried out of there, ignoring his calls and pleas for me to come back. I ignored him, afraid that if I looked at him, I would break.

Too bad I was already broken.

Calls and texts soon bombarded my phone, Ross desperately trying to get in contact with me. I soon couldn't take it anymore, shutting my phone off to try and get him off my mind. I was foolish to think it was that easy. Lexie had hounded me for questions the moment I stepped into our dorm, demanding what happened.

My voice was unrecognizable as I uttered the three words that plagued my mind and broke my heart. "Ross is married."

Her eyes had filled with a fury I had never seen before, significantly darkening as her face hardened. Despite her hardened look, she wrapped me in a soothing hug, trying to get me to calm down and relax. She rubbed my back, smoothed back my hair and wrapped me in a blanket as she huddled on my bed with me.

I appreciated her efforts, really, I did, but nothing was going to work. I had just found out my boyfriend was married. On the same day he told me he loved me, I found out he had a wife. Was our entire relationship a lie?

Sleep didn't happen that night, despite my exhaustion. I wasn't physically exhausted, but mentally. Wife wife wife. It was like a mantra in my head, preventing me from thinking of anything else. I just wanted to forget for a moment, get some relief, but knew that was most likely not going to happen.
