Finding Out the Way

I stare up at Liam, almost scared at his commanding voice that shocked me into silence. My eyes widened all the thoughts in my head suddenly merged into one.

"Kimmy?" he asked waiting for an answer, "What is wrong?"

I sighed, he'd never understand. "Nothing, Li, I'm fine. I was just thinking."

"What were you muttering, then?" He asked, obviously not believing me.

"I-uh," I tried to think of an excuse, racking my brain for a believable answer, "I was thinking about, um, what, um," I stuttered.

Finding a chance to escape the topic, I asked him, "Why was Harry in my room while I was sleeping?"

Liam froze, "Why?"

"Just wondering," I said casually, trying to keep the conversation away from the original topic. "So..." I said, trying to get him to answer my question.

He sighed, "I guess it's time to show you, but our conversation is not over for you. I'm worried about you."

"I'm fine, Li," I said, smiling at the nickname I had given him, "Now what are you going to show me?"

He grinned and led me into the parlor by my shoulder, where Louis, Zayn, Niall, and Harry were still staring at the couch, sitting on the one opposite. They were talking in whispers and looked up when we walked in.

"I think it's time we showed her," said Liam, giving them a grin. They all perked up, and Louis jumped up, reaching the doorframe before I even had time to blink.

I was taken upstairs, and by taken, I literally mean taken, as in, Zayn threw me over his shoulder and raced upstairs with the rest of the boys.

I squealed and held onto him as best as I could, as he raced hazardously up the stairs. At one point, he leaned dangerously over the edge and I closed my eyes and trembled. When we got to the top, Zayn let me down, giving me an apologetic look.

"Sorry, Kim," he said, as we all walked to the room, "I didn't know you were afraid of heights. That ledge is pretty high, isn't it?"

That was it. That's how I would hit my head. I nodded numbly, giving him a small smile to hide my thoughts.

When they dragged me into my room, I was confused, wondering what I could have possibly missed. We stopped in front of my closet, and I got scared. Did they all have to see how empty it was, while theirs was full to bursting? I blushed and looked down at my toes. Why were they doing this?

"What?" I could only force that word out, my thoughts swarming.

"We all bought the stuff you liked and put it in the car, and Harry, here, put it all in the closet."

Harry grinned to my left, "Sorry I woke you up. I tripped over the post on your bed."

I was tearing up, looking at all the boys who had jut bought me an entire wardrobe, "Guys, I don't even know what to say! Thank you!" I gave them all a hug, "You have no idea what this means to me. No one has ever..." I trailed off, not wanting to tell them about my 'friends'. I looked back to the closet, shocked that these crazy boys would do something this nice to someone like me, who didn't deserve anything like this.

I had to repay them. I had already decided what I was going to do.

"So, does that mean you like it?" asked a nervous Niall, who looked at me expectantly.

"I don't like it," I said, seeing their faces droop, "I love it!" I exclaimed, and their faces returned to the joyful grins I had become used to.

They all pulled me into a group hug, lifting me off my feet and taking the breath away from me. I tried to manage, but after a minute, my breathing became labored.
