A silver tag jingled as the car raced down the street.
It read:
Lucky
If Lost Return to Clint Barton
718-308-8900
Lucky shoved his head out the window with as much as energy as he could muster and his tongue lolled out happily. Clint smiled over at his new friend and gave him a pat on the head gently. The Labrador mix had been healing significantly since Clint had found him and he seemed healthy enough to be taken to his new home.
Clint helped the dog out of the car carefully, letting the leash fall to his side as he limped towards the door. Lucky was a fighter. He didn't seem to let his lack of an eye or a perfectly mobile leg falter his stride into the house. The moment Clint unlocked the door, the canine plopped himself on the couch. Clint sighed but let him stay there anyway, he was hurt, and Clint knew just how comfy that couch was after breaking a leg. Not that he'd ever done that multiple times or anything. It didn't matter, the couch was comfortable, and Lucky was already dozing. After just sitting down, the phone began to ring. Fortunately, it wasn't the home phone so he hoped Steve hadn't figured out iPhones in such a short time to invite him to another embarrassing night of group therapy at some bar in the city. It had only been a few days since their march on Hydra's and he really wasn't ready for that raging hangover again. When he grabbed the phone on the table, after getting up and sitting back down again (you'd think all this heavy labor would kill him), Pietro's face lit up on the screen. Clint grinned widely and touched his lips, the kiss being the only thing he remembered after getting hammered that night.
"Hello?"
"Hello Clint Barton."
The cute little voice rang through the speaker and Clint could just hear the smile on his face. He loved the way Pietro said his full name, even though he had no idea why.
"I want to see the puppy." Pietro gushed. He must really love dogs. He did seem like a dog person, which made him even more likable to Clint. Clint looked over at Lucky and the dog looked up at him with his one eye. Clint pointed to the phone and mouthed, "He wants to see you." He treated the dog like a person but Lucky just laid his head back down. He assumed he did it because he needed more social interaction. He shrugged, maybe he didn't get enough human contact in a day, but at least now he had a dog and a boyfriend. He froze. Did he really just think boyfriend? This is a conversation they'd have to have soon. Clint couldn't see himself without Pietro by his side so maybe it was time.
"Yeah sure, he'd love to see the weirdo who named him." Clint smirked.
"Weirdo? Okay, you're in trouble. I'll be over soon."
___________
Pietro wasn't lying when he said he'd be over soon. The doorbell rang and Lucky's head popped up with a low "boof." Clint smiled. He went to the door and opened it to see the blonde with a bouquet of roses in his hand. Clint couldn't help the goofy grin from blooming on his face. Pietro kissed him on the cheek.
"These are for Lucky." He sassed and pushed past the bigger man into the house. Clint was dumbfounded. Pietro brought his dog flowers and not him? Okay, they were definitely getting married now. Clint closed the door and spun on his heel to follow the blonde.
"C'mere you brat." Clint tackled him onto the opposite side of the couch away from Lucky and maybe crushed the flowers a little. Pietro didn't seem to mind and he just giggled. They stared at each other and it was disgustingly mushy. Clint loved it. He went straight for Pietro's lips and he didn't protest as their lips collided into another real kiss. Poor Lucky huffed and looked away, uninterested in their gross relationship. Clint was no longer paying attention to the dog anymore though. He stared into Pietro's eyes like he was staring at the night sky.
"Can I say something crazy?" Clint asked when they pulled back. Pietro nodded.
"You're always saying something crazy, old man."
"Brat." Clint groaned and looked dramatically annoyed with him. Pietro laughed and pushed him playfully.
"Okay, what?"
"Will you be my boyfriend?"
