"Jaff!" Agatha cried in amazement.
Jaff laid on the rocky outcrop below the cliff. This was an old land; the ground was reclaiming the boulders that had fallen from the cliffside. The dark rhino with fur looked like he was one with the earth as he lain there still, the ground welcoming him in its cool embrace.
"Magical yarn indeed." Tess said
"The book, the book. What does the book say?" Wicked asked. "We don't have much time to get to the next realm before the doorway closes." She looked worried. Watching the sky above them and in the distance.
"Yes, the book.." Agatha muttered after patting the now alive and awake dog. She sat on the ground near the dog, the cats surrounded her and Falcoro stood near.
Hector jumped onto Jaff and started kneading and massaging Jaff's side. He chuffed again, a happy sound. "Ah, that's the spot." Jaff said in his heavy cockney accent to the cat.
The book vibrated in Agatha's hands as the pages flipped to the middle of the book. Words appeared of their own will. Agatha giggled and placed her hands on her cheeks as she read them.
"I loved that movie!" She exclaimed.
"What is it, Miss?" Allie asked.
"Near, far, in our motor car. Oh! What a happy time we'll spend. Bang bang, chitty chitty, bang bang, our fine four fendered friend."
"What does it mean?" Meg asked.
Just then, a clackity-clunkity sound grew louder. Sounding just like the song Agatha just sang.
"Chitty chitty chitty, bang! Bang! Chitty chitty, bang bang!"
"Look! Just over the ridge." Wicked pointed a slender finger toward the hills in the near distance where a car from the early 20's was rambling down toward them, backfiring and lurching.
The car had a burgundy painted hood and boot with pale wood panels on the side. It had shiny brass accents and the headlamps gleamed like crystal. The cover was back, showing interior and the seats, which were a dark tan. They looked like they were soft as melted chocolate, she couldn't wait to sit on them.
Agatha decided she was thrilled with the next installment of her quest. She'd loved Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as a young mother. She took her children several times to see it in the movie theatre, and when she had grandkids she purchased it on VHS to watch endlessly. With the grands, of course. Anything with Dick Van Dyke was golden, according to Agatha.
"The car will take us somewhere." Agatha answered Meg.
"How will the car take us somewhere? You don't drive, mistress. Falcoro is much too large to fit in the front. We can't reach the peddles." Allie questioned while he pointed at his paws.
"We'll just have to see what happens," Agatha stated with the knowledge of her years giving her confidence. "Even when you don't know what will happen you know something will happen, and you are in control over how you react to what happens," Agatha wisely stated. "In the movie, the car turned into whatever they needed it to be; airplane, boat or car. It even saved them from Baron and Barroness Bomburst."
Agatha stood and moved to intercept the car.
"What a novel idea..." Wicked muttered.
"Quite." Agatha agreed as the car stopped in front of them. Like the T.A.R.D.I.S it looked much bigger on the inside, and up close. "Falcoro I think you might fit in the back, Jaff too if you squeeze."
"Oh, no thank you. I don't go in the air or on the water. No, Jaff and I will follow." Falcoro raised his arms in a defensive stance, shaking his hands at Agatha. He took a step back and his back was against the rock face. His eyes large with fear even though he was trying to look calm.
