2. Sweetness of Ocean Water

Waves of sand, water, wind and salt cut through the earth just to create habitat
for creatures unheard of by human ear
and unseen to remain by the human eye high is the tide on my feet
cooling them off from the warm air drifts
that drive my hair into a frenzy of tangles, curls and a coating of salty brine
as I race the gulls through the grains
in between my toes
their wings guide them upwards
towards the gusty currents where it seems
they could float endlessly
feathers barely bothered
miles and miles they would fly
to come upon the opposing shoreline
only to see fresh sets of eyes
with their gazes towards blue-gray figures
of dolphins on the horizon
the golden fingers of the sun gently rest upon the water as evening draws near
and the beaches become lonely
as the last fiery rays pass away
the faintest shadow of a remaining gull
will be seen going home
