A POET NAMED ANDREW : LIMERICK

On Wattpad is a poet named Andrew,

Posts new poems daily; one, perhaps two.

He is so skilled with rhyme,

Uses it most of the time

But his first two tempoems he blew.

In his first he tried to honor Bill,

Cheer him up after his being ill,

But he forgot to use rhyme

At the end of each line

And Gail Runschke came in for the kill.

To poor Andrew she broke the sad news

But keen Andrew was full of 'enthuse'

In his second, he missed one more rule

But Gail who's no proofreading fool

Attacked him with further abuse.

That tough woman refused to give in

But Andrew would never let her win.

He'd learned lots from tough kids at school

Sometimes he was stubborn as a mule

Success with his third made him grin.

The moral : Practice makes perfect.

                                     Gail Runschke, April 2, 2017

A/N I wish to dedicate this poem, my personal

contribution to National Poetry Month, to Andrew Green

who recently published Margaret's Story, a biography

in verse. The military service setting of his collection

makes it a delight to read. Simultaneously, I want to thank

Cottonjones (Olan Smith) for reminding us that this month of April

Is National Poetry Month.
