"Don't tell me you didn't know that?" I ask, laughing at Cole's silly antics. "Yeah," he replies, joining in on the laughter. "Sometimes I just don't understand you" I say, before I go off into a daydream. "Hey, that can happen" Cole's distant voice gets softer as the daydream seemingly becomes reality. The dark brown room is now a painting in another room, a red one with dissonant pink stripes. "Finn?" Cole asks. He shakes me, and I jolt awake. "Sorry man, it's just that I keep getting myself into dreams about assorted crap" I say.
A letter drops off the bright orange suitcase Cole is taking on his trip to England. I'm going with him, but I always find myself packing last minute, putting it off each time I think of it. I pick up the letter, and I feel that I'm meant to read it.
Hey.
I thought that before I go, I'll write to you. You should meet Finn. He loves SOCCER, and even more than me, if you can believe that. Supports Chelsea, if you're interested. Man City aren't huge rivals with them, so I'm alright with it. I kinda miss you, so maybe when I get back I can see you again. I hope you can get back to me soon, because I want to read your words so bad.
Bye.I notice the letter isn't signed off as I put it back. Cole, you bastard. The constant thought whirrs in my head. He hasn't even told me any of this, as my mood changes dramatically. "Hey Finn, when you gonna pack?" Cole asks. "Do you care?" I ask, still evidently disgusted at Cole. Cole doesn't reply. I look around the place. Something seems wrong or different, and then I notice it. The room is now a red one, with dissonant pink stripes, and there lies a painting of the dark brown room. Exactly like I'd daydreamed.
"Cole?" I ask, hoping for a reply. "You've entered the wrong house, Finn. You'll pay for this" the voice says. "I didn't even move" I reply. "The chair did" the voice comes back at me, haunting me. "Look, Finn. You'd like to live, perhaps. If you don't it would make my life a whole lot easier. Go back and never come here again" the voice exclaims. Within moments I'm back in Cole's house, sitting in the chair.
