*TITLE: (L) used to urge someone to make the most of the present time and give little thought to the future.
'Life is too short, so live in the moment'
A lesson taught from a young age, to focus on the day as it comes and to celebrate and embrace life and loved ones. As it is universally recognized that an individual's life can be altered in an instant, a life can be lost, a heart-breaking discovery can be made or a relationship can be left in ruins. Nonetheless, a constant reminder of the basic moralities need to be reinforced which is to do good, be grateful and always be reminded that others most definitely have it worse.
Every individual is confronted with trials and tribulations unique to them, as a result of these challenges provide an insight to one's strengths and weakness, allowing the individual to carry their knowledge to help others in the future.
Ashley was not exception to this, life had thrown the worst at her, from her family tree, to having a child with a rapist. However, she needed to stay optimistic and motivated for Matt and her much anticipated future with Jackson. They had motivated her to move mountains and to do her best in everything.
It was Thursday, a day Ashley had come to dread as Jackson worked long hours, therefore she wasn't surprised when she awoken by the coldness in the room to find that he had left.
Ashley blinked repeatedly to focus her vision on the ceiling fan, with a few tosses and turns followed by multiple yawns, she was ready to face the day. Her abdominal pains were becoming more sharp, however instead this morning there seemed to be a dull throbbing sensation.
Sitting on the edge of the bed she grabbed the baby monitor she always placed on her bed side table. Matt was grunting signaling that he was starting to wake up, she placed the monitor back and walked out of her bedroom wearing Jackson's oversized jumper and a pair of black leggings.
When Ashley slowly opened Matt's door, he quickly stood up in his crib and began enthusiastically clapping and screeching.
"Hey little man! You are too happy this morning, lets change you" she said as she lifted him and placed him on the change table.
After swapping his pajama onesie and changing his diaper, Ashley needed to do the routine check.
"Can you give me your finger please honey and then we can eat some cereal" Ashley stated with a smile trying to make the process less painful for Matt.
She had to check his blood every morning, afternoon and night to ensure his glucose levels were never of concern and if they were insulin needed to be prescribed.
"Good boy! You are such a big strong boy for mummy!" she encouraged. "Oh, ok mummy doesn't like those numbers, I think Jackson's been feeding you too many sweets"
After taking care of the situation, she and Matt headed to the kitchen for breakfast.
Ashley had found a note on the kitchen counter, in his perfectly artistic handwriting Jackson had written a short message for her, instantly making her stomach flutter.
'Hey baby, sorry I had to leave early, but quick reminder you have your ultrasound at 11.
I'll call you later xx J '
The appointment was in an hour and a bit so Ashley hurriedly made Matt a small bowl of cereal, a fibrous breakfast is ideal for diabetes to help with blood sugar regulations.
"Ok, we need to hurry bub, we have to go!" she said putting Matt in his high chair.
Ashley was not heavily dependent on coffee but today she needed to be alert, after scoffing down some raisin toast and a mugful of coffee, she left Matt to finish his breakfast while she quickly changed into more appropriate wear.
