Carried Away

Chapter One 

"Louis," Louis heard Liam's voice call from behind him. "What is that?" He wondered aloud as he opened the box.  "No idea. It was just on the door step." Louis mumbled, slowly peeling off the tape.

  "If it was just left at the doorstep why would you open it?" Liam quizzed, watching me. Louis rolled his eyes.

  "Because I'm curious and reckless." He retorted back looking up at him over his shoulder. Liam shook his head crouching on the floor next to his sassy friend.

  "What's that?" They heard the familiar Irish accent.

  "Louis found a box." Liam answered before Louis could even open his mouth. Louis sighed, running my fingers through his hair, obviously annoyed.

  "What's in it?" Niall crouched next to his roommates, eyeing the box.

  "If you guys would back the hell up and let me open it maybe we'd know!" Louis snapped back as he looked at them.

  "Jeez, mate. Don't have to get all snappy on us." Liam held his hands up in their defense. Louis let out an exasperated sigh, picking up the box and moving it to the kitchen counter. The only downside about living with the four of the asshats was no fucking privacy, Louis thought to himself. He shook his head and set the box down. 

 "What do ya' have there, Lou?" Zayn piped up from the other side of the kitchen where he stood making his sandwich.

  "Some box was just sitting at the door when I went for a jog this morning. So I brought it inside and these two blokes," Louis lazily through a thumb back and Liam and Niall. "Won't leave me alone about it."

  "Well. What's in it?" Harry's deep voice bellowed from his position at the bottom of the stairs. Louis jumped a bit at the loudness of his voice. 

  Louis watched him as he waltzed into the kitchen with nothing on but his sweatpants. His hair was disheveled as it always was in the morning. Louis looked away, focusing on the box as Harry grabbed and apple and stood on the other side of the island. Louis tried suppressing the bubbling feeling in his stomach as Harry stood in front of Louis.

  Zayn looked around at the group. "Are we going to finish opening it or just look at it?" He murmured as he took a bite of his sandwich.  Louis sighed as he pulled off the rest of tape and opened the box fully.

The box had a single mason jar of what looked like black smoke? Louis cocked his head as he began to reach in the box.

  "Louis!!" Liam hissed, reaching out to grab his hand. Louis smacked it away picking up the jar and inspecting it.

  "What is that?" Niall questioned quietly with wide eyes. Louis watched as the smoke seemed to move. Like it's alive, he thought to himself.

  They all watched as the smoke shifted around in the jar. What was it? Something like this had never happened before, nor had any of them seen anything like it. What were they supposed to do with it? How had sent it to them? Or who had placed it there.

  Louis was deep in thought when the other boys heard the crack. Louis saw Zayn step back out of his peripherals, but brushed it off.

  "Lou.." Harry said quietly. Worry masking over his features. "Put it down."

Crack.

  "Louis!" Niall cried as he took several steps backwards.

Crack, crack.

  Louis was broken out of his trance seeing the multiple cracks on the jar. "What the hell!" Louis panicked, dropping the jar. The jar shattered to pieces,  letting the smoke free.

  The smoke grew bigger, fogging the kitchen area. Louis felt himself getting weaker, his mind fogging. He finally dropped to the floor with a loud thud. He heard the four of he friends drop to the tiled floor not long after him.

  He felt his chest get heavier as he closed his eyes. All his thoughts see drifted from his head but one.
