"Hiccup!" Astrid yelled into the great hall as she opened the door. When the door was open, she saw her fiancé sat at a table with papers in front of him. "Hey babe, what you doing up this late?" She asked as she walked up to him. Hiccup put his pencil down and turned to face her. You could see how tired he was, bags under his eyes and the slouched back.
"Hey... I could ask you the same thing?!" He said very quietly. She sat down next to him. The she placed her hand on his cheek.
"Hiccup, I know that your trying to live up to your Father's legacy but you still need sleep," she replied. He pulled her in for a hug.
"Astrid, I... I need to... get this done before... I can go to sleep." She looked at him with a firm stare. He sighed, knowing that he couldn't win. "Why were you up then? It's not like you knew I was up," he asked. She blushed.
"I... couldn't sleep, I... needed... Wanted you there," she replied. Hiccup kissed her forehead.
"Come on. Let's go get some sleep," he said as he collected his stuff. Astrid linked her arm with his as they walked back to their house (Hiccup's house as Valka had moved to her own). As they walked in they were greeted by Toothless and Stormfly. "Hey guys! How you been?" The said. Their dragons went up to them and let their riders hug them.
"Do you want something to eat?" Astrid asked. Hiccup put his stuff on the table and walked over to his fiancée. He held her hips very firmly.
"I could eat something, how 'bout you?"
"I could... So what'd you want?" She asked.
"You know what, you shouldn't have to work at this time. I'll cook us something," he replied. Astrid though, was unamused.
"You've be working your ass off babe. Please let me treat you to some rest." Hiccup just looked with a stern face that showed no change but so did Astrid. They only broke focus when Stormfly nudged Hiccup and Astrid laughed.
"That settles it. I cook!" He said, overjoyed.
"OK but are you OK? You never liked to cook!" She stated as she pointed at a picture of Valka cooking and Hiccup just sat there.
"Hey, I've found a spot for it now." As he prepared the food, Astrid and the dragons looked at his drawings. They were plans for... something, she couldn't tell. So, she decided to talk to him.
"Hiccup?" She yelled.
"Yes?"
"What are these drawings?"
"Look closer!" She did as he said and pressed the pages together, only then did she see. 'WOW was all that she could say. It was the perfect home for them. You see, he had planned to renovate the house and modernize it a tad. Plus, the Nader\Night Fury statues out the front looked amazing. She was speechless. She walked over to Hiccup who had just finished making a quick Cod for them (plus some fish for their dragons). "Babe, those drawings are perfect! How did you know?" She asked. He turned to face her.
"I listen and have found notes," he replied. With that, they sat at the table for their meal. It was only halfway through when Hiccup had pushed his plate to the side and pulled the work papers in. Astrid wasn't annoyed anymore, she was now concerned for his well being.
"Hiccup, you need to get a rest from work! You've been stressing yourself to the limit lately with no time for relaxation!" She said. He only sighed. "So, tomorrow we will ALL be going to the beach, me, you, the twins, heather, fishlegs and Snotloud." He put his pencil down and buried his head in his arms.
"I appreciate your concern Astrid but I'm fine." He said. Even with toothless nudging , and Stormfly for that, he didn't seem to want to go.
"Pleeeease Hiccup! I'll make it worth every second! Promise!" She begged as she moved over to his side.
"I never said no, but how could... Never mind! Brain wave!" He said as he gave a quick peck on the forehead. Later that night, they we lead in bed when Astrid started to experience some form nightmare.
-dream- (Astrid's pov)
"HICCUP!!" I yelled as I plummeted towards the frozen lake. I could see him reach out to grab me but he was too far.
"Sorry bud," he said as he locked the tail fin and jumped off after me. As we were about to impact the ice, he grabbed me and spun round (breaking the ice using his back...to save me!?).
-Present- (3rd person pov)
She woke up screaming. Hiccup by her side. He comforted her without even asking what it was about. Thing was, he knew it was a nightmare, but not one that could potentially be real! He continued this until they BOTH fell asleep.
