Night In The Cold: Hiccstrid story

Long day

The next morning, Hiccup was up early (like usual). Astrid felt a little calmer after what happened last night. She had spoke to Hiccup about it, spoke to Valka, Gobber and Gothi which gave her more help to overcome this "dream". It was about noon when anyone except those she spoke to saw her. She and Stormfly flew up to the fishing hut to collect their fish and to go visit the local trader to see if they had any new gear.

"Morning lass! What can I get you?" The fisher said. Astrid looked around.

"Hi, could I get two Cods, a large bass and a barrel of dragon grade tuna please!" She asked, trying to keep Stormfly away from the fish. The man collected the requested items and handed them over. Astrid handed over the coins in return. It was then that a black dragon and his rider landed in the shadows.

"Beware fisherman Joe! She's dangerous if she's mad!" He said.

"HICCUP HADDOCK III! What have I said about this!" Astrid yelled as she stormed over to him. She yanked his ear and dragged him out into the light.

"Ow ow, OK! OK! Sorry! The real reason I'm here is not to tease you. It's to tell you that the gang are up for the beach and are egar to leave tonight! Is that OK with you?" He asked. She responded with a hug.

"Yes, as long as you promise NOT to work!"

"Promise!" He said. Toothless nudged them together as he ran over to his best dragon friend (Stormfly). Astrid seized the opportunity to kiss her man, unfortunately for her, he beat her to it. They were locking lips within seconds. After their passionate kiss, Hiccup kissed her hand and said, "I'll see you tonight m'lady!"

"As I shall you kind sir," she replied with a curtsy, the most ladylike thing she'd done all week. They both departed and continued their daily jobs until that night at 9.

When the sun was down over Berk and most of its citizens were asleep, the dragon rider gang were preparing to leave. It was unusual for Heather to join then since she was with the Biserkers but she made the effort and it payed out.

"So, are you two gonna tie the the knot or what?" She asked Astrid. Astrid just looked disappointed.

"We're already engaged but we want to wait for the perfect time," Astrid replied.

"Oh, I get it. You want it to be perfect. Gotcha." It was then that Hiccup and Toothless flew in.

"Hi guys, sorry we're late," he said.

"And WHY would that be Hiccup?! Humm!" Snotloud yelled. Everyone and their dragons shushed at him.

"If you must know Snotloud, I had to lock up my house since my dad isn't there. Happy!" Hiccup said with a hint of being upset in his voice. Astrid ran over and gave Hiccup a hug. "It's OK that your late babe. No matter what HE thinks!" She reassured him with her calming voice. No one else saw or felt what he did next, a tear or two rolled down his face onto her blue shirt. After everyone had moaned at Snotloud for being insensitive, they all took off and headed for Calm Cove Island (their chosen destination).
