Our story begins in a dark stone cave. Cool, clear water drips from the cracks in the ceiling and pools in the shallow craters in the floor. Shadows peer behind large, lonely boulders, just waiting and lurking. For what, I do not know. A ways away, the ground drops in a nearly vertical decline. The cave doesn't stop there, though; a single stone bridge stretches into inky darkness, looking very... unsafe. A large variety of pawprints create designs in the dust. Everything is dark, except for the light of exotic, brightly colored crystals embedded in the walls. Huddled around a huge stone obelisk, studded with unrealiticly large emeralds, are six sillhouettes. If you venture a bit closer to said figures, it would reveal that sat around the large bejeweled statue are a beautiful panda with a silky black braid running down her back; a scraggly grey wolf with a seemingly-permanent frown; a short, pudgy koala holding a wooden staff; a purple bunny with huge violet eyes and a sense of wonder reflected in them; a monkey that appeared to be old and frail, but was clearly intelligent from the various gadgets he was tinkering with; and a proud and regal-looking tiger, who immediately drew your attention to him. Obviously, these animals were exceptional; they seemed to be glowing from an internal light inside each of them. Then why did they seem so worried and anxious?
The koala reached up his stubby arm in attempts to reach a small button on the side of the obelisk. With a grunt, he hopped and hopped, but he was much too short to reach. The tiger sighed and extended an impressive claw to press the button. Immediately, the emeralds were filled with light, and the animals had to squint to adjust their eyes. The koala nodded his thanks to the tiger, and they all settled down, grimacing when they found themselves sitting on an uncomfortably cold and wet floor.
"Gilbert, what have you heard from Sigurd?" the panda asked, her voice as cool and soothing as water flowing over smooth stones from the top of an ice-capped mountain. The tiger, apparently named Gilbert, turned to the panda and replied in a deep, husky voice, "Sigurd and his fellow deer are well. They have been exploring the grassy plateau northwest of Jamaa. There have been countless reports of phantoms and they have already found three phantom hives. He has reported that there is no sun, only dark grey clouds, and it's always cold. They are attacking a phantom hive tomorrow at five AM." There were worried glances exchaned between the listeners.
"And Amelia? How is she?" the panda asked the stern-looking wolf. A slight blush creeped into his cheeks and he looked down at his grey paws. "Liza, stop asking so many questions. And how should I know?" Liza rolled her eyes and replied in an annoyed tone, "Greely, come on. We all know you and Amelia are certainly more than friends. Besides, the reason that we are here is to ask questions, so please stop being so immature and answer the question!" The wolf raised his eyebrows, but replied evenly, "Amelia is climbing Mount Jamaa with a few of her kind. Why did we assign foxes to climb a treacherous, snowy mountain, anyway?"
The spritely rabbit spoke up. "Well, Amelia insisted, and I'm pretty sure we all know that it's better not to argue with her." A few of them smirked with not-so-discreet glances at an embarrassed Greely. Greely cleared his throat and said, "Enough with Amelia, Peck, we've got bigger problems to attend to." Peck opened her mouth to tease Greely again, but the old monkey spoke instead. "He's right, young Peck, we all know that the phantoms are growing in numbers and they are plotting to conquer Jamaa. Even though we opened adventures for Jammers to participate in, thinking it's a game while actually killing phantoms, it doesn't seem to be helping. Sigurd has had seven of his herd of warriors killed by the awful creatures. This needs to stop. It is our duty as alphas to keep Jamaa safe. We need to speak with Mira." The five other pairs of eyes widened. The koala stood up and retorted, "Graham, that's impossible! None of us can reach her! Our contact with our goddess was lost a long time ago!"
Graham only smiled and swished his curled tail. "You are absolutely correct, Cosmo. None of US can. But I do know someone who can." He walked over on creaky legs to the entrance that they had all entered through. He beckoned with a long, wrinkled finger to an invisibe person apparently standing in the hall. A collective gasp filled the cave when an earth-shateringly gorgeous figure stepped through the entrance.
She was not a tiger, not a monkey, not a koala, bunny, wolf, or panda. She was not a fox or deer, either. No, she was sleek and spotted, with a fluffy, long tail. She was a snowleapord, in other words. Her fur was dark grey with a light grey belly, paws, snout, and tail tip. Black snowleapord spots bespeckled her body. Her eyes were shining, glistening rubies. White and cornflower blue feathers on blue beaded strings were woven into her fur just behind her ear. Red vines with blue leaves were woven on her tail. She was radiating an aura of confidence and kindness. She was... breathtaking.
No one spoke. Their mouths hung open, except for Graham's, of course. The snowleapord sat down, curling her tail over her puffy paws. On one toe was a ruby on a silver band that was almost as sparkly as her eyes. She cleared her throat, but still no one spoke. She smiled a bit in amusement, and spoke in a clear, even voice. "My name is Serenity. I am the snowleapord alpha. Mira introduced me to the planet Jamaria just a week ago. I have a strong connection to Mira, and I was sent to help with the phantom menace."
Peck, always the most outgoing rabbit you would ever know, bounced over and shook her paw. "I'm Peck the bunny alpha. Pleased to make your acquaintence." She turned to the five other alphas. "That's Graham the monkey alpha, that's Cosmo the koala alpha, there's Greely the wolf alpha, over next to Greely is Liza the panda alpha, and there's Sir Gilbert the tiger alpha." Sir Gilbert was the only one still in a trance. He tried to speak, but just stuttered and gasped. Serenity couldn't help but smirk, while Peck was laughing hysterically.
Serenity walked over to the stone wall of the cave and pressed her ruby ring to the rock. Slowly, like the stone was cracking, red light spread out from the ruby on the wall. The crack-like design spread until the whole wall was covered in a web of glittering radiance. The legs of light grew larger and larger, until the wall was covered in a full surface of light. The red began to fade, and revealed a map of Jamaa. "I know the phantoms' plan," Serenity began. "I have spent the last few days spying on them. I went to their main hive and used my alpha powers to become invisible. I snuck into their meeting, during which they made said plans. Unfortunately, to foil their plans, none of us have the required power, not even if we all combined ours. But there is one. She thinks she is an ordinary Jammer, but what she does not know is that she has power so strong that not even the Alphas can top it. We must find her." Serenity tapped the mmap that was projected on the wall, and the Jamaa Township was magnified. "I believe that we may find her here..."
