43. Jemma

Lord of the Rings forever and always should be watched on a big screen. Unfortunately, I didn't learn that until after Beatrix and I watched The Two Towers on my laptop. We tried to have a nice time without worring about someone's ex in the room next to us with his daughter. Then again, it never crossed my mind that he could still walk into my bedroom. But he did, and he saw Beatrix and I, cuddling on my bed, with me sneaking a kiss while she laughed uncontrollably.

"Peter," I started.

"Don't. Just don't. I do not want to hear it," he snapped. "Steve said they found Lilith. We have to go. Bea, you have to stay here with Sara. Your mom was saying things about recovering. If you need someone to fight, take it out on her. Jemma, you need to get your sword and come with us."

Peter turned around and sped out of the room before I could respond. I looked at the blue sundress that I was wearing.

"Well, you look great," Beatrix chuckled. "Knock 'em dead for me."

"Of course," I smiled. I grabbed my sword and sheath from its shelf, tying it around my waist. "I'll see you in a little bit. I promise."

I bent over to give her a quick kiss. Her lips were soft and buttery from the popcorn.

"Bye."

Considering the villian that needed to be fought was from the Enchanted Forest, some people from Storybrooke came: David, Mary Margaret, Emma, Killian, Regina, Robin, and Zelena. The wicked witch certainly could not help but live vicariously through me; she chatted me up the entire trip to the Hamptons.

"Now, that Beatrix girl, how is she?" she asked.

"Fine. She actually just had her baby, um, two weeks ago, so she's at home with the baby," I explained.

"Oh! So she decided to keep the baby!"

"Well, yes and no. My dad and step-mom adopted her."

"Isn't that weird? Your girlfriend's daughter is your sister?" Zelena questioned.

"Wait, Beatrix is your girlfriend?" Natasha interjected.

"Zelena believes what she wants to believe. I've told her otherwise, but who is gonna fight her on a silly matter?" I chuckled, avoiding the truth. I wasn't lying, though. Not lying. "And stop eavesdropping-"

"The only one eavesdropping," my blood ran cold as a new voice joined the chorus of our conversation, "is me really. I mean come on! You guys are heroes! Shouldn't you be really good at spotting people following you?"

"Lilith," Emma sneered.

"Ah! Blood buddy, how are you? You know, ever since our last encounter it seems that life has been pretty crappy?" Lilith, whom was then standing before all of us to see, was laughing. "How's the thunder girl? A little birdy told me she had a child! How pathetically adorable."

"How pathetically adorable that you hid out in the Hamptons after torturing a teenage girl instead of facing the consequences?" Emma snarled. "Oh, excuse my miswording. I meant pathetic."

"Okay, I'm all about trash talk during a fight, but shouldn't we be duking it out by now?" Spider-Man/Peter stated with a nervous chuckle.

"The red blob is right. Oh, boys," Lilith called.

I stood stunned as the ground began to move. Winged creatures popped up, covered in dirt. Their faces, scarred and mishaped. Their skin, torn and scaley.

"Dragons," I gasped. But they stood like men. Two legs, two arms and all. Long, twisting horns jet out from their heads, each wielded strange medieval weapons.

Blood had a strange taste, didn't it? Or maybe it was just dragon-man blood, because I thought this guy got blood on my face. I had been facing it off with two of the dragon men when Emma was thrown back from Lilith in a blast of magic.

"Emma!" called out Mary Margret, quickly abandoning her own place. I nearly did myself, but was distracted. In my peripheral vision, I caught Lilith turning into a dragon, which was one big distraction. My sword slipped through my fingers, my jaw fell on the ground. Before the goon I was fighting could attack me, a flash of magic hit me, and I blacked out.
