The One Choice

Chapter 3

After I left Noah, I drove back to my apartment and got a parking pass for my car to leave it in the garage for the next 3 weeks. I realized then that I was pretty stupid to take my luggage and stuff to the airport but also now I don't have to worry about lugging it into an Uber.

When I got to the airport, I realized how early it was and was kind of grateful for the long lines at security as it would kill time. I also really love the scene of people frantically running around in an airport, it makes me excited to fly. After check in, and grabbing my carry on from the front desk I went and took a seat at my gate. I had like three hours before my flight even took off and decided to just read my book.

I got really caught up in it, that when I heard my name I startled a little.

"Amelia?" A deep voice said as a figure hovered over me. When I looked up and saw who it was, my face contorted into confusion.

"Andy? What are you doing here?" I said with a smile as I got up to hug him but still very confused.

"I'm going home for break. I assume you're doing the same." He said so confidently.

"Wait, you go to Juniper? Since when?" I said laughing at the irony of it all.

"I transferred the beginning of the semester." He said as we both sat down.

"No way! That is so crazy I can't believe it. What made you come here?" I asked shocked that he's here. I haven't seen him since high school. He looks so different now.

"Umm just change of scenery. How have you been?"

"Pretty good, what about you? It's been what, almost two years since I've seen you?" I said reminiscing on old times in my head. Remembering when we used to date and the reason we broke up.

"Yeah it's been a while. I can't believe we're both here it's so funny the way life works things out."

"It really is. So what time is your flight?" I asked already knowing he was probably on the same one as me.

"Four, are you on that one too?" He asked curiously

"Yes, this is so weird. I can't wrap my head around the fact that you go here. I mean the reason we... never mind." I say deciding it's best not to bring up us right now.

"I know, I'm sorry." He said knowing exactly what I was talking about.

I spent all of freshman year trying to get over him and yet here he is right in front of me. Now there was an awkward silence, neither of us knowing what to say.

He broke the quiet. "Um, I came here with a couple of friends and I think we're going to get something to eat if you want to join us?" He asked trying to be nice and forget what happened between us.

"That's okay but thank you! I ate a little before I got here." I said smiling as he stood up.

"Well it was good seeing you, maybe I'll get to see you back home."

"Yeah, maybe." I said giving a little wave watching him walk away. Seeing his back turning away from me reminded me of when he left me. I shouldn't say he left me, it was more mutual. After all, I'm the one who said it would be hard for us to be together when I went away. I couldn't keep it to myself though, I had to tell someone. I decided to text my friend Elisa.

Hey girl, guess who I just saw?

And almost immediately I got a response.

Who?!

Andy...

Oh... what? Where? How was it?

I gave a grin laughing at my friend's energetic nature that is expressed through her texts.

At the airport, he came up to me just now. Did you know he goes to JU too? He was nice, but I almost brought up our breakup on accident, well I kind of did

I love being able to confide in her and tell her anything, especially knowing she actually cares for me and will give me honest responses.

I didn't know he went there either, but he knew you did. Do you think he went there for you?

I wish she didn't put that thought in my head because now I'm going to think that's why he came here.

No I doubt it, he said he came for 'change of scenery' whatever that means. There's the same scenery here as there is in Georgia

I know she was joking but I could also sense the seriousness behind her text. Maybe he did come here for me, but then again it's not all about me he probably has a legitimate reason to transfer here.

Why are you like this lol? I miss you, can't wait to see you!

6 hours left! We've been invited to a party tomorrow night FYI it starts at 10

What do you mean by we? I plan on sleeping all day

I still have like 2 and a half  hours left before my flight boards and decide I can't read anymore. I take out my iPad and watch Netflix on it to pass the time all the while thinking about the real reason Andy transferred here.
