excerpt from a book i will one day write

Her skin was not perfect. She had stretch marks and mosquito bits and cellulite. Somewhere her skin was darker and somewhere paler. Her back was dotted with scars of spots and she had red lines like claw marks where she had scratched herself. The small hair everywhere on her skin made her appear streamlined like a bird. She was not perfect. And because of that, she was so, so real.

"Teach me."     "What?"      "Soccer."

He stared at her in surprise while his friends hooted and clapped, "She's a keeper."

He took a shuddering breath.

Our monuments sleep under the light of a young Sun.

One of these days you're going to wear something beautiful to realise that it does not compare to the beauty of your skin, scars and all.

Mom told me that people rush in love because they love the feeling of being in love with yourself. But what about a woman who already loves herself? Is she destined for great things? Or at least, a great legacy.

Oh you who live up in palaces of sky

cover up the fact that you're blind

by listening to the most exquisite music

What do you care about us far below looking au at you

with stars in our eyes
