Hi Guys!
So today I going to tell you all about a series. The Backbenchers by Sidharth Oberoi. It is a series based on some teenagers in high school. There are 4 books to the series but I have read only 3. So i will review the 3 but give the summary of all 4.
Summary -
1. The Extra Class
" Ananya is the new girl in school. Back home in Raipur, she was loved revered and popular. But he new city has different plans for her. desperate to get noticed, Ananya takes some big steps. Over the weekend, Ananya is a changed person. This is not what she wanted, but it wasn't about what she wanted anymore. Soon she realizes that just changing the outer appearance is not enough. The cultural shock is too much for her to take. Will she survive the transition, without losing her integrity? "
Review - The 1st book in the series. This is about something we all have experienced at least once in our lives. The problems we face when we change school. Everything changes when we change school. And the most dreaded part : fitting in. This book is something that I have been able to relate to as I have changed schools many times. And of course, I am a teenager. The really easy language used makes it a bit more attractive. Simple words and nothing else. This book also acted like a reminder of all the past stories and poor jokes, all the fun time with my friends.
2. The Missed Call
" The Backbenchers: The Missed Call! is a book that tells us the story of The Presidency Convent heartthrob, Natasha Malhotra. The Presidency star happens to suffer the rude shock of losing her boyfriend, her fame and her name within a short period of time. Though Natasha is unaware of the actual reason behind her downfall, her suspicious mind hints at Ananya. Natasha, now a wounded tigress, decides to fight back and not accept everything that life throws her way. Life plays a trick and Natasha finds something which can help her ruin Ananya's life. Natasha now plans her revenge.
In order to regain her pride, she decides to participate in the city's most prestigious quiz competition. She teams up with Shreya who was once upon a time her best friend. Shreya stays at a distance watching Natasha seething with hatred and anger as she goes about seeking her revenge. Shreya's heart aches as she sees her friend take her life towards utter destruction. But she is helpless."
Review - This part was mainly centered on Natasha, her depression and how she got out of it. Ananya and Yuvraj were not given much importance. This book was also good but not as good as the first one. There are new characters introduced like Shreya, Natasha's old Best friend. I suggest you to read this part before going to the 3rd part or else you will miss out much things and won't be able to relate to things in the next part.
3. 3 Days of Summer
" This book brings to the readers a story of four students from a premiere school in Delhi. They unknowingly become a part of a mysterious adventure trip that tests their abilities and turns out to be an event with dangerous and hidden plans.
Ananya, the prime character of the book is taken to Tamil Nadu for a photography project along with three of her schoolmates Natasha, Shreya and Yuvraj. The expedition gets a charismatic teacher Mitali Roy joined in to get all of them working with a renowned photographer Sanjib Desai. Sanjib and Mitali reflect a story which is a subject to unleash from a reader's point of view and this unspoken past between both builds a plot for the students where they find themselves in a threat appearing large on their heads. in the meanwhile, a love story also sprouts between Ananya and Yuvraj, which is questioned under such undesirable circumstances. "
Review - This part is my personal favorite. As a fan of Mystery, I found this book really good. With mystery and drama in the right proportion, this book kept me at the edge of my seat, all the time. Once again, I would mention the easy language used. There are new characters and a whole new setting. It is not in the school but rather in the dense forests of Tamil Nadu.
4. The Presidency Night
" In this fourth installment of the high-school young adult series, The Backbenchers are in for a surprise. After five long years, The Presidency Convent has decided to lift the ban on Presidency Night – the most awaited night to mark the end of school life of its senior-most students. The school is crackling with excitement; the backbenchers are convinced that this is going to be a night to remember. But will their greatest night turn into their greatest nightmare? What will the night unfold, that will make them wish that the school had never brought back Presidency Night? "
If anyone reads the 4th part or has read, then do tell me how it was.
Until Next Time!
