"Thank you." Julie said politely as she was handed a piece of bread. Julie walked over to a pillar and sat down. She was still exhausted from the previous week. She ate half of her loaf and saved the other for later. Julie looked around her and watched as people fought for more food as the rations they were provided with were limited.

Julie stood up and walked over to the fighting men she tugged on the civilians shirt and held up her half loaf. "You can have mine. We have limited supplies so we can't waste energy on fighting or you will just need more food."

The civilian and the officer looked at Julie as if she had two heads. "No, you can keep yours." the civilian said noticing how tired Julie looked. "You need your energy more than I do."

Julie silently put the bread back in her pocket while she smiled at the man. "Thank you. We shouldn't fight. We were brought here because of the titans, but we are still intruding on these people's rations."

Julie then walked away and sat down with her back on a pillar. It was one more fight that had ceased.

One year later.....

"Goodbye, sir. I hope you can take back the wall." The eleven year old girl said.

"Thank you, Julie. I hope that you will have a nice meal waiting for me when I get back." The old man said to Julie.

Julie had befriended an old man who had decided to take car of her after she told him what had happened in Shiniganshina. The adults were leaving to reclaim Wall Maria after they had an unsuccessful amount of crops that year and no titans had been spotted in over a year.

Mr. Lars pulled out a think book and handed it to Julie. "The contents of this book is yours alone. You may share it if you want, but I have a feeling you will not want to."

"Th-Thank you. Maybe we can have some soup when you get back, Mr. Lars. And then I can ask you all about this book!" Julie said happily with a large smile on her face.

Mr. Lars laughed and said "Maybe we can, Julie. I must go now, take care of the house while I'm gone."

Julie watched as Mr. Lars walked away and her smile faded. The last thing she ever saw of the kind Mr. Lars was his back and the straw hat that sat upon his head.

One year later.....

"You there!" the bald man said.

"Sir!" the trainee said while placing his right hand in a fist on his heart while his left hand was behind his back. It was a hot day for the first day of the trainees.

"Who the hell are you!?" the man said.

"Armin Alert from the Shiganshina District, Sir!" the blond boy yelled." That so? What a ridiculous name! Did your father name you that?!"

"My grandfather named me, sir!" The boy replied.

"Arlert, why did you come here?"

"To contribute to mankind's victory, sir!" Armin yelled.

"How commendable for you. We'll use you as titan bait. Third line, face backwards!" this man was yelling more than a vendor.

The man went on while people made mistakes and gave the wrong answers under their pressure. The one that peeved the man the most was the girl eating a potato in her line. She was made to do over one hundred laps and miss dinner. One person used his left arm in attention and was yelled at even more. Some people were skipped, apparently it showed on their faces what they had been through.
