Love Through Different Worlds

A New Day

Central City, 17th April, 2024, Earth 1 

Caitlin awoke to her and Barry lying together in bed, both of them cuddled up together. Barry was peacefully asleep next to her, his arm wrapped around her back and hand on her shoulder. Their clothes had been carelessly flung around the room, scattered all over the floor and furniture. Smiling to herself, thinking about certain things that had happened, she slowly got out of bed, went into the bathroom and showered then threw on some clothes, before walking back into the room to see if Barry was awake. 

Barry was still sleeping, as Caitlin walked in she couldn't help but notice how peaceful he looked, how adorable he looked lying there sleeping. As she walked over to the bedside table to grab a book, Barry opened his eyes, turning over to look at Caitlin.

"Good morning sleepy," she teased, sitting down on the bed and holding his hand. After a few minutes of relaxing with Caitlin, Barry got up out of bed and threw on some clothes, before re-taking Cait's hand and walking to the kitchen to make breakfast.

The couple were snuggled up on the sofa, having just finished eating. Hand in hand, Caitlin's head on Barry's shoulder.

"So, Cait, when do you want to continue the journey?"

"Actually, I don't want to go anymore. You really annoy me, why would I want to go?"

"Oh, erm, I'm sorry, yeah okay..."

Caitlin burst out laughing, squeezing Barry's hand before exclaiming,

"Okay I did not expect you to be the gullible type," she said with a huge smirk, before jumping on to Barry for a hug.

"Don't do that!" he said, laughing, before embracing in the hug.

"Oh and by the way, we can leave whenever you want"

"How about now? It's not like we have much to do here anyway."

"Yeah, but one thing first"

She leant in and kissed him, and for a few minutes, they were passionately kissing in each other's arms before Caitlin pulled away, taking Barry's hand and taking out the Ciscodrive from the nearby safe that they kept it in. It took them around 5 minutes to throw everything together that they needed, and once they had everything, they linked hands, shot each other a smile, opened a breach and jumped in.

Central City, 29th June, 2032, Earth 8

The duo landed in the middle of the living room of a seemingly large house. There were voices that could be heard above them, it sounded like two people having a conversation. Barry gave Caitlin a look, and quietly whispered, 

"We should probably get out of here, considering this is someone's house and all."

Still hand in hand, they crept over to the front door. Hearing the voices upstairs get louder, they attempted to open it, only to realise there was no door handle, instead, there was a strange piece of tech that slightly resembled a fingerprint scanner. They shared a panicked glance, before hearing a female voice shout down from the top of the stairs. 

"Hey! Who are you!?"

They turned around, both scared of what was about to come. They looked up at the person who shouted, and everything went silent.

"Oh my god..." the woman muttered, before shouting something to the other person on the second floor, and before Barry and Caitlin knew it there were two people standing in front of them. But not just two people. Barry and Caitlin shared yet another look, as they had both figured it out. The two people who had just come down the stairs were people they knew. They were Barry and Caitlin. 

"Well, hi, past us." future Barry said, looking at them both, smiling, as if it was bringing back some memories of some description.

Caitlin spoke up, asking,

"Are you two.. Married? I mean, are we married?"

The Earth 8 Barry and Caitlin both laughed before future Caitlin answered.

"The funny thing is, I remember being here in your place, asking myself that same question. After all, I'm just you from the future. Yes, we are," this was followed by the Earth 8 counterparts sharing a quick kiss, and the Earth 1 Barry and Caitlin just looking at each other in shock. 

There was a moment of silence, before the voice of a young child could be heard from upstairs. 

"Mum! Mum! Come here!"

"Okay, Isabelle, I'm coming! Well, you two, it's been great meeting you. You really brought back a lot of fond memories," she said, smiling, then walking up the stairs.

Earth 8 Barry spoke up, exclaiming,

"Yes, agreed, it is a real pleasure seeing you, it makes me strangely happy seeing my past self. Oh and Barry, you better treat Caitlin well," he said with a laugh, sending a glance towards Cait, who was blushing at the sheer thought of her getting married to Barry. Earth-8 Barry then continued, saying, "We should probably get you home before we accidently create a paradox, huh"

They said their goodbyes, pulled out the Ciscodrive, and Earth-1 Barry and Caitlin linked hands, turned around and waved, and before they leapt in, Caitlin spoke up. 

"Well, that was certainly interesting. Where will it take us now?"

"Let's find out," Barry replied with a smile before they both jumped in, and the vortex closed behind them.

Earth-8 Barry walked up the stairs and sat next to Caitlin, who was sat on Isabelle's bed, putting her to sleep. They shared a smile before he spoke up. 

"They really were fun times, weren't they?"

"Yes, well they only got better."

They shared a kiss, before walking out of the room together and back into the living room. Looking over to the mantelpiece, there were 3 pictures.

The first was them at their wedding, Cait in a beautiful wedding dress, Barry holding her bridal style, standing in a little building in an open field, filled with different flowers.

The second had three people in them, Barry, Caitlin, And their daughter, Isabelle. Barry and Caitlin were sat next to each other on the sofa, with Caitlin holding a week-old baby with one hand, and squeezing Barry's hand with the other. They were both looking at each other, smiling.

The last one, the one in the middle, was a picture of Barry and Caitlin sat on a hilltop, only about a month after they had met. Caitlin snuggled up in Barry's arms, the moonlight shining down on them with a perfectly clear sky. Sat together, only a month after they met, and they already loved each other like no one else.
