"Barry?" Caitlin replied with a look of shock on her face. "What do you mean, Barry. Barry's dead."

Another tear came to her eye, she looked down at the floor to try to hide her face from Charlie.

"Yeah. He will be if you don't hurry up and come with me."

"H.. He's.."

"Just come! We don't have time!" He was shouting now, seeming very worried.

"O... Okay. Okay!" Caitlin said, her mood lighting up significantly. There was a chance. There was a chance that Barry was alive. That's all she wanted. A chance. Charlie picked her up, re-applied his mask and ran, straight into a breach he had created.

Charlie's hideout, 1st July, 2187, Earth 3

Charlie stopped inside a fairly large area, full with strange futuristic technology.

"Welcome back to Earth 3. Y'know, just two days ago you came here for the first time. At least, two Earth 3 days ago. To you, it's been roughly a mon..."

"Where's Barry?" Caitlin interrupted, in a pretty stern voice.

"Okay, hurry, he's this way," he said, pressing the emblem on his suit, causing the whole suit to remove itself from Charlie and fold up into a size that could be fitted in a pocket. Fairly impressive for a suit that is mainly technology based, and made from metals as a pose to fabric.

Caitlin ran into the next room, to see Barry lying on a bed, hooked up to several machines.

"There is a heartbeat, but it's weak. Injuries include gunshot, cracked rib, and a lung puncture caused by a laser beam. His brain is also suffering from post over-laser exposure, so it may take an hour or so for him to return to the Barry you know and love."

Caitlin walked over to his side and grabbed onto his hand with both of hers, squeezing it tightly.

"Everything will be okay," she whispered, quoting him from a number of times he had told her this.

"You may not want to touch him."

"Why not?"

"I'm about to activate the healing dock. It should heal most of his most fatal wounds. The reason you don't want to touch him is that there is a risk that you may, well, literally get surgically attached to him."

She took her hand away, and cupped her head in her hands, scared out of her life for him. Charlie activated the machine, and he was entirely concealed in a tube, and strange sounds started to occur.

"Caitlin, you may want to leave him. It won't help just being sat there. Come on, let's talk."

---------------------------------------

Caitlin was sat down in Charlie's hideout, with a cup of coffee that he had made.

"How did you do it? And why?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean how did you save Barry and why?"

"How? Well, believe it or not, you came to me in your future, my past, to tell me about this, and when it happens. So I knew when it was happening and where, so I saved him. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get him out in great condition, and I am sorry for that. Why did I do it? Well, I don't know about you, but I quite enjoy existing. If he died, I wouldn't exist. I told you before, you two are my ancestors."

Caitlin didn't have too much to say, she was still in shock from earlier, and the whole idea of her and Barry living long enough together to have children was too perfect, and right now there was a risk it may never happen.

"Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I'm here. So that means Barry survives. If he is going to die, it is impossible for me to exist right now. So he is going to survive."

This brought a smile to Caitlin's face, and just as she was about to speak up an alarm sounded, causing Charlie to immediately stand up, taking his suit, or at least the small square that is currently his suit. He threw it up into the air, and with some out-of-this-world technology, it unfolded and used small thrusters to apply itself to Charlie.

"Gotta run," he said, before running off in an orange streak, causing a few white lighting bolts to appear in the room.

---------------------------------------

A few hours had passed, and Caitlin was still sat alone, not being able to stop thinking about Barry. Their future. Their lives. It was at this moment she heard a noise come from the room Barry was in. She stood up and turned around, to see him standing in the doorway.

He looked up and smiled.

"Hey Cait"

"Barry!", she shouted, running over to him and hugging him. He put his arms around her, before saying something.

"I'm so sorry"

She pulled away, before looking him in the eye.

"It's okay. Yeah, you scared the hell out of me, but it's okay."

They held each other's hands, before walking over to the couch and cuddling up together.

"Why did you do it? Why did you almost die for me?"

"You know the reason why Cait. I love you, I always have. You mean the world to me and I have, and will always protect you with my life. I love you, Caitlin Snow, you are the one thing that matters to me in this world. That's why I did it."

"I love you too. You are amazing Barry, you honestly are."

They shared one of their special looks, before he leant in and kissed her, and they spent the next few hours cuddled up on the sofa, watching films and enjoying every moment of each others company.
