I screamed and tried to lash out but they had a tight grip. I couldn't understand why Kendal and dad weren't trying to fight back. When I stopped and calmed down I realised they weren't even looking panicked and Kendal dropped to the floor to rest.
My dad flipped a switch and the light to the room came on and that was when my captors let go of me. "Oh it's you."
I fell to the floor as the adrenaline began to pass and my legs collapsed beneath me. The fear had slowly drain as soon as I had recognised the voice. He bent down and caught me in a warmer and crushing embrace.
"Ashton! We were just coming to get you!" I cried happily into his shoulder.
"Yeah right." He chuckled half joking. I think it was a joke but his not so joking face said otherwise.
"It's true." Kendal piped up. And that was when I jumped away from Ashton except Kendal looked unbothered.
Actually maybe unbothered wasn't the right way to phrase it but he certainly wasn't fuming. Ashton had noticed my abruptness though and was frowning.
"Oh yeah. So this is lover boy." He took a step away from me and sneered at Kendal. "Were you two going to run away into the sunset together?"
I tried to stand up as I cried. "No! We were coming to get you we just had to get passed the other two."
He didn't budge but he also didn't stop to listen to me. "Who's this?" Is all he asked as he gestured to my dad.
"That..." I began as I finally managed to get up on my feet with the reluctant help of Ashton. "Is my father."
He didn't say anything.
"You're the boy who was close to my daughter, correct? Looked after her through the rougher times all those years ago." My dad questioned as he walked over to us.
Ashton nodded but only slightly as he sighed. "Didn't do a very good job though."
"What?" I piped up.
"Well look at the situation we're in now." Is all Ashton said.
My dad stepped in. "That is not your fault."
Ashton scoffed.
"It's true, the whole reason this happened was because of me being far too overprotective." My dad added.
"Look guys, we need to get out of here. We're all together now so all we have to do is bust out of here." Kendal said going up to the door and preparing to open it. "I'll see you outside."
"Where are you going then?" I asked as he stepped out of the door and I couldn't help but notice that he had got his gun out from his belt. I already knew the answer.
And he knew that too which is why he silently left without a word and disappeared. I wanted so bad to go after Kendal and stop him but I had to admit there actually was a part of me that wanted the two guys dead because it meant I could finally live a normal life.
"Hey! Where's he going?" Ashton asked as he abruptly jumped over to the door.
I reached out to stop him by grabbing his arm and he slowed down. "He's going to kill the other two..."
"No!" Is all Ashton cried.
"What?!" My dad and I said in unison.
"I wanted to kill those two scumbags for hurting you for all those years." He growled as he pulled out a smaller gun from a pocket. He noticed my eyes widen and said, "I grabbed it when stupid Logan wasn't looking."
I slowly shook my head. "Just leave it, I don't want any blood on your hands."
He chuckled lightly sending shivers down my back. "Don't you think I've killed before? I'm an undercover agent!"
"What! I thought you were just a cops son who had easy access to weapons!" I cried.
"I am, I just have a little side job whenever I'm low on cash. Before you turned up, despite having a better life than my old one, I still had a hole that needed filing and so I took up this." He gestured with the gun. "I've only ever killed bad guys, I promise."
I shook my head. "Nevertheless. I don't want you to kill anyone else." I couldn't take back what he had done in the past especially when that was because he was depressed over his mum and me but starting from now I could help. "You heard Kendal let's just get out of here." I said in a demanding tone and I fearlessly stepped out of the room and began running. I had no idea where to but it was a different way from before and there seemed to be more light his way. It wasn't long before the other two were following.
"Wait! It's not safe, you should go between us!" My dad insisted and so I reluctantly agreed as we made our way to the entrance of the building after a little while of running.
Soon we reached the front doors and I got an overwhelming sense of freedom as I touched the handle and swung the door open. The fresh air of outside hit me and I was warmed at the cool embrace only to then be distrusted by a hand harshly yanking me back outside.
I turned to see who it was and my blood ran cold when my eyes met with Eric.
