Rose
"Mate you have to ask her on a proper date eventually." I overheard Simon telling Chris as Annie and I walked back from her office.
Annie started to hit my arm excitedly.
"He's going to ask you out!" She whispered with an excited tone. I hushed her as I listened more, leaning towards the living room.
"I really want to. I'm just scared that I won't find something that will interest her."
"She loves theme parks. And a good glass of rosé. Take her to Thorpe park and then out for drinks or something?"
"How do you know she likes theme parks?" Chris inquired. Annie looked at me as if he was crazy.
"Everyone knows you like theme parks." She whispered. I shrugged, listening again.
"We talk all the time. You pick things up. Ask her. I promise she will say yes." Simon pushed him.
"Okay."
"Okay you'll ask her or okay you'll think about it?"
"Okay I'll ask her." Annie let out an excited squeal and I mentally sighed.
"Rose? Annie?" Simon called.
I sheepishly peeked my head around the corner with a smile on my face.
"Get in here." Simon waved his hand and the two of us walked in the room. I sat on my beanbag on the floor and Annie took hers.
"Were you eavesdropping?" Simon asked with an amused expression on his face. Chris however; was just sitting there with red cheeks and a sheepish smile on his face.
"Maybe. What's it to you?" Annie said with a sassy tone.
"It's nothing to me. I think it's all about my boy Christopher here." I adverted my eyes to Chris who was already looking at me.
"So I hear you want to ask my best friend on a date." Annie said looking directly at Chris. I let my head fall back and a laugh escape my lips.
"I do." He responded. Simon and I stayed out of the conversation.
"Where will you be going? When will it be? When will you have her back?"
"A theme park, probably this weekend, and I'll have her back before you even know she's gone."
"Good answers, but I guarantee that I will notice she's gone the second she leaves. I have a keen sense of where Rose is at all times."
"Do I get a say in this?" I piped up.
"You get a choice." Chris said.
"And the choice is?" I inquired.
"Yes or no. Will you go on a date with me?" He asked.
"I'd love to." I said with a smile.
"Perfect. I'll make the arrangements. Any place you want to go eat before or after?"
"I'm not picky, but Italian is my favorite food."
"Italian it is."
"This date sounds fun can I go?" Simon asked.
"No." Chris and I said in unison, looking at each other then laughing.
"Just remember I don't want to be an aunt yet." Annie joked.
