He should have known.
He should've known.
He should've known.
Eren groaned as he slammed his face into the pillow on the guest bed he had been gifted with. He was hot and sweaty from running around the building while the others went out to get some snacks for the night.
As he should've, he decided to stay back, telling them " Thank you," for the stay. But now, he realized, all exits and doors were locked. Even windows. If he had tried to open a window an alarm would go off.
He didn't understand it. No maids or butlers would help him, and now he was covered in sweat. He sighed and walked over to the attached bathroom, gagging once more at his putrid smell.
The shower was refreshing. Nothing was more calming as he lied back down, well, until the door pushed open.
Eren looked up from the bed, seeing the king. Imedientaly, he jumped up and brushed his pants.Silence had never felt as friendly.
Note the sarcasm.
The wooden floor creaked as the man stepped in with a smile, softly closing the door from behind.
Eren felt his breath leave him as he looked up at the king with a small smile.
"Sir," Eren spoke, trying not to show how nervous he was. His heart raced, and his hands trembled, but he did not stutter, nor did he glance away. The king smiled and walked over, taking a seat on the bed along side the young boy.
"It's not like Levi to bring over a friend," the King nonchalantly said, looking up at the ceiling while running his hands across the velvet sheet.
Eren looked over at the old man who calmly spoke, face written with wrinkles, and his smile: heartwarming.Eren felt at ease with him and he relaxed, leaning back slightly.
"We're not really friends you know," he mumbled back. Their eyes met and the King's lip quirked up.
"Really? Hm, wonder why he would go such great lengths to keep you here?"
Eren looked down with a frown, knowing the man was insinuating something.Eren knew Levi did not like him, care for him or even consider him a friend; Levi was only curious about him, and maybe Armin. He knew Levi always got his way, along with Mikasa but, it really made no sense why the King was nice, not forcing answers from Eren like Levi would most likely do while alone.
Eren looked over at his King.
"He's curious, about me," his voice was soft, filled with confusion and innocence.
Why couldn't his kids be this sweet? The King asked himself.
"Well, consider yourself lucky, it's hard to get him to focus on one thing entirely-" Eren scoffed at this."If he has went out of his way to keep you here, I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to marry you!" the King said, chuckling and patting the boy's back. Eren sat frozen in the touch, frozen by his words.
Date? Marry? No, no way. Me and Levi? That wouldn't work he's so, and I'm so...yeah! That's why it wouldn't work.
"Only kidding son," the King laughed, standing up and smiling at the boy.
Eren shook his head to clear the thoughts, looking up in shock when he saw the King was already walking out the door.
"Sir-" the door closed softly, cutting off his voice.
Eren flopped back onto the bed, turning his head This and that way. After moments of silence, the door creaked open again.
"What are you doing."Eren bolted up, looking up to the taller raven with round eyes. When his mind finally processed who he was, he calmed down.
