"Are you really going to go through with this?" you asked.  You hated the way he always stood at a distance from everyone else, as if he was above everything.  In a few months, your free will would be taken from you.  You would willingly, yet with a will not your own, agree to commit suicide and live in a world controlled completely by this man: the legendary Sinbad.

"Are you going to try to stop me?" he asked.  "Aren't you the one always singing songs about world peace?"  You lowered your head and averted your eyes when he turned around to meet your previously hard gaze.  Of course you wanted a world without war.  Everyone wished for a world without war, but you didn't want it like this.

"There's nothing I can do to stop you, Sinbad.  You know that."  You brought your eyes up to meet his, trying your best not to falter.  You had already heard every argument he had to make.

"There is no such thing as free will.  Everything is determined by the rukh, even if you think you're making your own choice."

"What good is free will if everyone keeps making the wrong choice?"

"Do you honestly think that singing songs or making speeches will change a thing?"

"Only those chosen by fate can truly make a difference."

"I'm a greedy human being.  Is there anything wrong with that?"

You were absolutely sick of it.  You knew he had lost hope for this world, but you hadn't lost hope in it.  With differences would come disagreements, and with disagreements, war.  War was indeed inevitable in this world, but it doesn't change the fact that working to come to an agreement changes people for the better.  In a world with no war, there could be no growth, no change.  There would be no point to ambition, no point to living.

"Sinbad, I'm in love with you.  I care about you, and I know you care about me," you started.  "I remember the day you told me you love me too.  Even now, I want to believe that."  He turned away from you again to gaze through the window in his office.  He knew where this was going better than you did.  That was what you hated about him.  "I'm not sure how much longer I can believe that.  Our bond was so strong because we both acknowledged our faults as humans, but I can't really call you human anymore, can I?"  You sighed, knowing that your words couldn't reach him the way they used to.  "Am I so boring to you that you have to turn me into someone else and strip me of my free will to be happy with me?"

There he stood, dignified, poised, and sure, just like the first time you met him.  The way he approached you was just like the way he approached you the first time.  He took long, confident strides, taking great care to flash every perfect angle of his face until he reached you, took your hand, and kissed it.  This time, the difference lay with you.  Rather than a giggle, it brought a bittersweet smile to your face.  Sinbad brought his hand to cup your cheek.  He pulled you into his arms and whispered, "In the new world, let's meet again, just like this."
