Dallas' POV
HE CONCLUDED I was a child of Apollo. At least, that's what Mana mumbled about the rest of the flight.
He seemed to be completely blown off his feet.
By the time we flew down and landed in some huge valley next to a lake, I'd had enough of Mana's muttering.
I dismounted immediately, my butt sore. I looked up to the sky, noticing the sun was low in the sky. It had taken us around three hours to fly from Miami to New York.
I looked around.
There was about fifty people standing around, gathering into quite the crowd. They all had orange t-shirts with the words Camp Half-Blood written on the front. I saw a few giggling women underneath the surface of the lake, but I decided not to comment.
Behind the crowd stretched out a huge summer camp.
"Gerroff meh!"
Sixty pairs of eyes shifted to Ethan. He had flopped off the grey pegasus with a thump and was bleating at Fred to stop untying the ropes, because apparently he could do it himself.
"Is there a leader of some sort here?" I asked loudly, all such pairs of eyes moving back to me, "I have a lot of questions, and Ana here doesn't seem to want to answer them."
"My name is not Ana." Mana growled.
I ignored him.
There was silence, until a blonde guy stepped out of the crowd. He had blue eyes and a scar on his bottom lip. He looked like some windswept surfer.
"I'm Jason." He introduced himself, "Our director is away at the moment, leaving the head counsellors in charge."
"I'm Dallas." I said, deciding not to ask what the head counsellors were for.
"Ok Dallas, come with me, I'll give you a tour."
•••
The tour was amazing. Well, mostly because of the camp, but also because Jason was damn fine. I couldn't help but staring whenever he wasn't looking.
"-and finally, that's Cabin One, where the children of Zeus live." He seemed like he knew all about the place. I guessed that was where he stayed.
"You're a Zeus kid?" I asked.
His eyes snapped from the lonely looking marble cabin to mine. "How'd you know?"
"I'm good at reading people." I shrugged.
"Well you were close. I'm actually a son of Jupiter." Jason corrected.
"Jupiter?"
He proceeded to explain the Roman camp and the different gods, as well as his mission to get every single god a shrine, which was why a Roman was at the Greek camp.
"That's insane." I gaped as we came to Cabin Eleven (Hermes I think?).
"It kind of is." He laughed, "Anyways, this is where all the unclaimed demigods stay. This is where you'll live until you get claimed."
Something hit me. Like a memory. Something I had forgotten. Like it was right there behind a veil, but I couldn't reach it.
Somehow, I knew I'd already been claimed.
I decided not to mention this.
"Thank you Jason." I grinned at him.
"Yeah well don't thank me yet, it's almost dinner. I'll show you the ropes of that, then you'll be thankful." He joked.
