I look up from my textbook after a few minutes of reading and see a couple walk down the path, going the way I walked from to come to the bench. They go halfway around the bend, and I see the man pull her over towards the lake, and he whispers something in her ear. Seething about them made me smile, but something didn't quite feel right. I pushed it out of my mind and continued to work, while watching them. She then began to laugh and start to push him away in a playful manner,
"Babe, stop trying to scare me, please!" she giggles as he starts to wrestle her. He is holding something, but it looks like a tiny pen. That can't be. I shake the thought from my mind, and continue to stare at my textbook for a few seconds. I hear a sudden scream, and look up in horror to realize the woman he was with stopped resisting and fell towards the ground... I hesitantly take out my phone, and film the incident as he pushes her almost dead, limp body into the water, and holds her face down. He pulls her back up from the lake, and continues to stab her. I slowly gasp, covering my mouth like some cliche horror character would. I take myself to a bush, and hope he doesn't look around for witnesses. Wait a minute... I am a witness. I release a few tears as I face reality and realize that a woman just died, and I could of saved her, or just showed up and somehow changed his mind. This has to be a dream. It has to. Soon I watch as he takes out his phone, and sprints past the bend. After a few minutes of waiting, I pack up my textbooks, sketchpad, and pencil case. I run towards the turn of the lake that the woman was stabbed at, and stare at the water, looking for her. Looking for a sign of life. I take out my phone, dial for help.
"Hello, 911 operator. What seems to be the problem?" the soft voice on the other side says.
"I- I just witnessed a murder. I can draw the suspect for you!" I whisper loudly, hoping the man isn't back, cleaning up the last of the body."Ma'am, where did this incident happen?" The operator replied. I hear the woman on the other side begin to shuffle through papers.
"Abigail Parkway! Please be careful, I saw him walk away..." I anwser, hoping that I'm not being annoying.
"Officers are about 3 minutes away from your location. They will be there as quickly as possible."
I thank the officer, and hang up, looking at the blood stains in the grass. I get on my knees and start searching desperately in the water. I find some clothing, and pull it up to find the woman. I pull her up, and set her on the grass. This cannot be happening. "Hello?" I cry as I check if she's breathing. I forget about the knife wound, and accidentally dip the tip of my finger inside her body.
I scream, and then hastily dip my hand in the lake to clean it off. This could not be happening. I threw up a little in my mouth, my skin becoming slick with sweat as she flinched, coughing.--
