Song of the chapter: Pretty Girl by Maggie Lindemann

Darkness surrounded me as I tried to get some sleep. I looked at my digital clock through my blurry eyes, showing me it's currently 2:15 in the morning. I sighed, realizing that I won't get any sleep tonight and that there was no point trying. I was quite used to it. I haven't slept for nearly 2 days and I have been surviving on Red Bull and disgusting energy bars. Staring up at the blank ceiling, I think about what will happen today at school. Will it be the usual bullying I get or will they give me a break for once? As I thought over multiple questions that were always on my mind, I got up to grab another Red Bull, only to notice there was one can left, sitting there, taunting me. I groaned in annoyance and slammed the fridge door. Thank god Dad was still on his business trip otherwise, I would have woken him up.
Guess I'll go to 24/7 gas station down the road.
I searched the house for the keys, turning everything upside down, eventually finding them in the back of the freezer for some reason. I grabbed a ten dollar note from the envelope Dad left me to use while he's gone and got one of my skateboards out of the garage. I wrapped myself in warm clothes before walking outside with everything I needed. Before riding my skateboard, I looked at the deck with a smile on my face, reminiscing the memories I had while riding it with her. This was her favorite board and she insisted to ride it every time we went somewhere.
It was a plain but interesting design. It was the symbol for the Skeleton Clique, the Twenty One Pilots fan base. Twenty One Pilots was her favorite band and saved her on multiple occasions. If only she had her iPod that one night.
I shook my head to get rid of the bad thoughts that were clouding my mind and placed the skateboard down on the ground so I could ride it. As I pushed off with my foot, the wind blew in my face, calming me instantaneously . I closed my eyes for a split second, enjoying the feeling of the air blowing my hair out of my face. Then the skateboard hit a crack in the concrete, making it stop suddenly. I went flying though the air. My life flashed before my very eyes. My whole body landed on the ground, skidding a little bit, causing pain to erupt from the right side of my body.
"Ah shit!" I yelled in pain, while lying on the footpath. After a few seconds of just lying there, I sat up, wincing at the stinging pain coming from my knee. I looked at the stinging body part to notice that my brand new skinny jeans are now ripped at the knees, revealing the massive graze. I felt my head spinning as I looked at the blood. I tried to look away from it but couldn't I ended up lying back down, eyes closed, to rest my head. If you couldn't tell, I can't deal with blood very well.
"Are you okay?" I heard a voice. Me being me, I tried to stand up as I did't want the other person thinking I was a baby.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Just a skateboard accident. It happens all the time." I ranted, trying to seem fine. That was until I fell back down because the pain in my knee was unbearable.
