I wondered what tat worst thing was, it wouldn't leave me alone. But I had more important things to think about, for example, Fiona's birthday. She would be sixteen in three weeks (according to the day calendar in the parlour - it was the same year over, so Miss Peregrine never needed to go out and buy a new one) and Emma, Bronwyn and I were planning her a surprise party. I would appear that she was the only one of all the children to actually remember her own birthday, and yet they said she would still be surprised.

"I think that it should be plant-themed." Said Emma. Bronwyn shook her head. "You say that every year. Let's change the theme this time." "But we do a plant-theme every year, and Fiona loves it!" "But every year, she's says: Oh thank you! What a lovely surprise! Its just like last year!" Emma sighed and tapped her head. "What about a beach party. Like, down on the beach all day with a picnic and swim suits and stuff like that." I suggested. Bronwyns eyes lit up. "And sometimes there's even a live band!" She added excitedly. Emma nodded and clapped her hands together. "That settles it then. Ari, you've stopped what was meant to be a lifelong argument, and to that we owe you our thanks." "Yes, Miss Apiston! Very good!" Exclaimed Bronwyn. Then she left the to find Miss Peregrine.

"Why does she always call me that!" I asked. "Call you what?" Emma asked. "Miss Apiston? Shouldn't it just be Ari like everyone else calls me?" Emma shrugged. "It really depends on her mood. Or nothing at all, really. She never calls any of us our forenames without Miss or Mr in front. Sometimes, in my case, its Miss Emma. Or sometimes its Miss Bloom. I guess your harder because Miss Ariana or Miss Ari don't really suit you. Of anyone, if it were their name. Miss in front of Ariana or Ari doesn't really go. That's why your Miss Apiston. Its just who Bronwyn is, really. Her brother, Victor, was like that too." "Whose Victor?" I asked eagerly. I had heard Miss Peregrine mention him once, but I still had no idea who he was. "Victor is... Bronwyns brother." Emma said carefully. I knew she was hiding something. "Is he the boy upstairs?" I whispered. "The one everyone says is sleeping, when really he's dead?" "Someone told you!" "No, I just guessed. So I guess that I'm right?" Emma pulled a loose strand of hair over her face and into her irregular tight blond bun. She nodded. Tears glistened in her eyes. "Don't let Bronwyn know that you know. She'll think I told you and we've been having lots of arguments lately." I nodded and we went off into the kitchen to discuss picnic plans with Bronwyn.

I lay in bed thinking about what would happen if I let my guard down at the beach and accidentally turned myself into something evil like a jellyfish or a crab. The more I thought about all the bad things I could turn into, the more heavily nightmared my sleep became. "Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear Fiona
Happy birthday to you!" Me and the rest of the peculiars including Miss Peregrine sang, excluding Fiona whose hand was cloaking her mouth. Tears rolled down her cheeks as we passed her a giant green triple-layered cake with sugar flowers on them. She blew out the three small candles on top and laughed loudly. All of a sudden, a wave crashed down on us all, and my body changed alon with the water. I was a killerwhale. Fiona, Claire and Olive screamed. Enoch, Horace, Hugh and Millard tried to swim away. Emma and Bronwyn attempted to fight. Miss Peregrine just stood there, clearly disappointed. Then I disappeared with the sea...
