At long last, my boat hit a rocky shore. As if purposely waiting for me, a young and beautiful fair-haired lady was stood with eight young children behind her. "I'm Miss Chimney-Swift, you new Ymbryne. Miss Peregrine said you would be arriving here. I can't wait for you to meet my wards and live with us. This is just eight of my wards. There are ten more at home with Miss Java-Sparrow, an aged Ymbryne who lived for too long outside her loop. Her wards had to come to me. Please meet Olivia, Ella, Joanne and Helen." She pointed at the four girls to the left not her. "And Lewis, Miles, Jamie and Collin." She directed her hands to the left side of her, where four boys were.

"I'm Olivia Farrington-Darcey and my peculiarity is that this is not my real face. This is just a mask made to look real. My real face has red blood cells on top of the skin, instead of under it." Explained the oldest looking girl, around the age of ten. "I'm Ella Jones and I can turn invisible underwater and after ten o'clock at night. Its not useful, if you ask me." Said the second to younger girl, about six. Then the youngest came up with the last girl, Golding her hand tightly. "I'm Helen and this is Joanne. My peculiarity is that I can read peoples minds, and Joannes is that she can see without evening having eyes." Explained the older girl, about seven. I glanced down at Joanne, a girl around three. I realised she had two eye patches covering where her eyes should be. They wandered away and the boys stepped forward.

"I'm Lewis Cartwright and I have water for blood." Said the oldest, about thirteen. "I'm Jamie Andrews and my peculiarity is that I can slow or fasten the speed of my own heart rate." Said the second oldest, looking sort of ten-ish. "I'm Miles Ford and I have snakes on the edges of my hair, like Medusa, so o have to wear this cap or they'll kill. They like to kill, to." Said the third oldest. Then finally, the youngest about five, came up and said he was Collin Ohay, and he was as fast as the faster cheetah.

As a reward for listening to them all, all the peculiars demonstrated their powers, all except for Miles, Joanne, Olivia, Ella and Lewis. So only Helen, Jamie and Collin showed me theirs. Since no one here was injured, I simply explained my peculiarity of healing and Asyliss stuff, completely forgetting my animal translations up until a turtle washed up on the bay. I ran over and translated its tiny turtle sounds and turned my arms into seal flippers. Everyone gave me a round of applause. I could tell I was really going to like it here.
