HINATA PRETENDED SHE didn't hear the knock on her door. However, that didn't stop the person knocking at the door from barging in to check on her.
"Hinata, what happened?!" a worried Neji shouted, concerned for his cousin. Hinata wiped away her tears with the back of her hand and sobbed. "N-Naruto dumped me today," she mumbled.
'What?! Why?! He broke up with her on their one-year anniversary too! What an asshole!' Neji thought, enraged.
"Hinata," he sighed out, "you'll live. There are plenty of fish in the sea, I'm sure." Hinata looked at him for a moment and blinked, but she kept weeping.
'Way to go, genius. She's still crying because you're being an insensitive douche.'
"Hinata, forgive me for being rude. I just want you to be happy," he said as he patted her back comfortingly. "You don't need a guy to be happy." Hinata wiped her tears away and looked at him with a menacing glare. "I already know that, assface! I just want Naruto!" she yelled. Neji flinched.
Hinata groaned. "I'm sorry I yelled." Neji nodded, still recovering from the sudden anger that came out of his cousin. "This week has been terrible! Not only has Naruto broken up with me, but Kiba got dumped too." Neji flinched again.
'Kiba got dumped?! He and Izumi aren't dating anymore?! Why didn't she tell me?!' he thought.
So many thoughts were speeding through his mind at that moment. He felt shocked, worried for his best friend, worried for Hinata's best friend, but for some reason, he also felt the tiniest bit of relief at the very bottom of his heart.
Snapping him from his trance, Hinata spoke. "Just get out. Leave me alone," she mumbled, her words slightly muffled from her stuffing her face into her pillow.
Then, Neji left, and allowed Hinata to mope for a little while longer.
The guilt was practically eating her alive. Izumi almost began to regret breaking up with him. But she held back the tears and showed no sign of looking back.
'I'd feel more guilty if I stayed with him. I don't love him, but I don't want him to get hurt because of me.' She kept telling herself this over and over again all day.
However, this didn't stop her from contradicting herself.
'But I still hurt him in the end.'
That night, Kiba tried to sneak into Hinata's room through the window, for he knew Hiashi wouldn't let a guy into his daughter's bedroom at this hour.
Both Hinata and he wanted to talk to each other in person about their breakups. They had decided that it would make them feel better if they talked about it to someone they trusted. They were best friends, after all.
Kiba knocked quietly on the window. Hinata heard the knock and rushed over to open it. "Hello, Kiba," she greeted with a forced smile. Kiba returned her pained smile.
And so, they sat down on the bed and talked for a while.
After their conversation, Kiba released a relieved sigh. "Hinata," he said, "I'm really glad I'm always able to talk to you." She smiled at her best friend.
"We both share the same pain."
"We both share the same pain."
