CHAPTER 1

I stretched my arms after I cleaned all of the instruments we used for our last patient for today. Dr. Byun already left, leaving me and my coworker Park Yeon Hee alone. She was preparing the list of patients that will visit our dental clinic tomorrow.

"Lemmy? Are you done?" Yeon Hee popped her head from the doorframe as I closed the last drawer. I turned around to face my taller coworker.
"Yeah, I cleaned everything."
She simply nodded and showed me to follow her.

"Let's call it a day and go home."

"Sure." I massaged my left shoulder as I closed all the doors and went to our small changing room. It always smells musty in here but no one cared enough to buy an air freshener for 2 dollars. So why should I do it? All I wanted to do right now is to take a hot bath and drink my grape juice from a wine glass and relax. Yep, I said grape juice since I don't like the bitter taste of alcohol. But wine glasses always look so fancy and that's exactly what I need right now. So don't judge me.

I changed into my normal clothes and wanted to leave this place as soon as possible but Yeon Hee suddenly called for me.

"Lemmy! I forgot to tell you this. Please be careful and don't leave your windows open. There will be a storm tonight."

A storm? I haven't heard anything about a storm.
"Thank you for telling me Yeon Hee. Be careful too, ok?" I bowed before I left the clinic. Leaving the intense smell of sanitizer, which always gave me a headache after a few hours but I kind of got used to it now, kind of.

I have to admit that it was very windy outside and it became stronger as the time passed. It was a biting wind, cold and uncomfortable. Besides that fact that my hair was constantly being blown in my face, it was harder to walk properly. I should hurry up before it gets worse and people see a flying Lemmy. I giggled to myself, actually imagining how I am flying around the city and how my screams fade into the night sky. Why am I like this?

***

I arrived a little early at bus station so I had to wait for 4 minutes until the next bus comes. I was looking around my environment but there wasn't much to look at, to be honest. It was an empty street. The only source of light was the convenient store behind me. And on the other side of the street was a bench next to a tree. A tree that never bloomed. Not even during spring -wait something is missing. I looked behind me, next to me but he was nowhere to be seen. Where was he?

My heart started to pound, and my hand began to sweat a little bit. I stood up and began to pace back and forth, stomping my feet impatiently while I was looking around, hoping to see him somewhere sleeping but he wasn't there. Ok... I guess he went somewhere else. I went back to sit on the bench, but I couldn't shake off the strange feeling I got, because he was always there. Sleeping on the bench across from me. In the beginning, when I started to get this job, he wasn't here often but one night he was there.

I had to stay longer at work to organize Dr. Byun's bills, which wasn't exactly my job but whatever. So, it was already late at night as I had to wait for the last bus when two drunk men approached me. Nothing really happened because he was there to protect me. Well, he simply told them to fuck off and pushed one off them away and they simply left. Way too drunk to cause an actual fight. I always wanted to thank him, I still do but right after that incident, he went to the bench on the other side of the street and fell asleep. He didn't look at me or said anything, leaving me dumbfounded on the other side. Since then, he was always sleeping on the bench across from me.

I know that he just pretended to sleep so that I won't feel uncomfortable by his presence, I think? You are asking yourself how I know that? Because I caught him a few times, going away after I got into the bus. He was watching over me. A stranger. Just a homeless youth.

Suddenly, I heard a loud bang behind me causing me to jump up and turn around. I almost fell off the bench. I immediately looked around and saw a black figure in the shadows. Oh my god, no! A rapist!

"If you want to rape me, w-which I-I don't recommend you because there is a place called jail a-and surprise! It's not a myth and-" Oh no he is coming closer!

"Ahhh! Huh...?" I blinked a few times to clear my vision and it was not a stranger. It was him. He picked up a wooden board and stared at me with widened eyes. He cleared his throat before he parted his chapped lips.

"Sorry, I didn't want to scare you." He showed me the wood he was holding. "I accidently dropped them, sorry."

I didn't realize how I clutched onto my jacket and bag and let them go. I tried to manage my breath and only nodded, pointing to the things in his hands. "W-Why are you carrying them?"

He didn't answer me right away and frowned for a second. "There will be a storm tonight...I don't want to get wet." He shrugged it off and stood awkwardly in front of me. I would lie if I told you that my heart didn't sank as he said that.

"Uh what's your name?" Awesome Lemmy, what a smooth way to start a conversation.

"My name? Does it matter?" He turned around to go but I didn't want him to leave me.

"Wait! It matters. Please, tell me your name."

He turned around. "It's Min Yoongi."

"Ok, Min Yoongi, this may sound weird but since there will be a storm tonight I could offer you to sleep on my couch." I held my breath to wait for his response.

"No."

"I swear I am not a psychopath!"

"No."

"What...? You will freeze to death. What if a branch hits you in the face and no one will hear your screams? Do you know why they won't hear you? Because the wind will be too loud. What if...? What if!" I waved my arms as I thought about other possible situations. "What if you fly away because of the strong wind? I mean, look at you, you are skinnier than those French models."

He blinked a few times, totally speechless.

"Yeah... and then I will hear a soft Lemmaaay by my window." Elongating my own name. Okay, that was embarrassing.

"Yoongi, I really want you to sleep somewhere safe. You come to this bus stop for the last 3 weeks now and always go when I enter the bus. I know why you do this. I never got the chance to thank you or even talk to you and you still came, even today."

He looked away and I could see his cheeks flush in a soft pink tone.

Right in this moment, the bus arrived and opened its doors with a wosh sound. I quickly faced Yoongi and desperately asked him one more time. "I even have spicy rice cakes at home?"

A small smile creeped on his face and he nodded. Letting the wood fall to the ground, "I love spicy rice cakes."

I let out a relieved sight and gestured him to follow me to the bus.

I heard him snicker behind me and whisper. "Lemmaaaay."
