After 10 hours of sitting on the plane we finally arrived at LAX, I took a few naps but every time I shut my eyes I saw my parents lifeless bodies sprawled out on the floor. How dark my brother’s eyes were and the smirk on his face when he looked at their dead bodies then changed it to a saddened and caring look when looking at me like he thinks I didn’t see his amused look at the situation.
“Dev! Are you listening?” Alex said waving her hand in front of my face snapping me out of my trance.
“Yeah - no, what was you saying?” I replied and she rolled her eyes.
“I said, where’s your uncle?” she questioned, I looked around the waiting room near the entrance door at the airport and skimmed over the heads of the people waiting until it landed on a man with dark brown hair, around early thirties and the same features as my mum. A grin formed on my face and I ran over to him and threw my arms around his torso hugging him tightly, he stumbled a bit but quickly regained his balance and hugged me back squeezing tighter than I am.
“well you’ve grown a lot since I last saw you!” he exclaimed and kissed my head, pulling away a little to look at my face. I looked up smiling and my eyes met his grey once and they shone bright and had little crinkles at the sides of his eyes from his wide smile, I heard light footsteps behind me and instantly knew it was Alex.
“Uncle Jason, this is my best friend Alex!” I excitedly said while pulling away from him and stepping towards Alex and grabbing her hand with a big stupid grin on my face.
“Nice to meet you Alex, I’m Jason but you can call me Jase or Unc! Whatever you feel comfortable with!” he said calmly wearing a smile as big as mine.
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you finally! The whole plane journey Dev was going on and on about you!” she laughed, I scowled and her and she nudged me with her hip causing me to giggle.
“Well all good things I hope! Anyway lets go, my wife Serena is waiting in the car and she’s a very impatient woman! But don’t tell her I said that she’ll have my balls for it!” he said while blushing a little I couldn’t help but laugh as he led us out of the airport. We walked to a Black Mercedes C-Class saloon car and got in. the woman in the passenger seat turned to face us and took off her sun glasses with a wide smile at me and Alex which we kindly returned, she was stunning! She had honey blonde hair which fell down to her mid-arm, her teeth were Hollywood white and her natural makeup consisting on faint mascara and a natural colour lip gloss really made her blue eyes pop.
“You must be Devina, I’m Serena! Omg our names basically sound the same!” she giggled and reached over to the back seat and hugged me tight. “you’re so pretty!!” she exclaimed.
“thankyou, so are you! And it’s so nice to meet you!” I said hugging back, she seems so bubbly.
“and you must be Alex! You’re pretty too!” she said turning to Alex and hugging her too, Alex said her thank you’s and smiled before Serena sat back in her seat and we all buckled up. “hey babe, how’s it feel being sat in the car with three hot people?” Serena said turning to Jason and winked.
“I feel like part of the gang!” he joked winking back and we all started laughing. Before I knew it the engine was brought to life and we were on the way to our new home to start fresh and try to put what happened behind me, as if its that easy!
