Brantley:

The next morning, Baby and I headed to the Sherriff's station with her loaner phone. After showing the same deputy as last time the texts, and missed calls and voice mails, he still refused to do anything about it. "It's non violent. Until he threatens you or actually harms you, we can't do anything other than issue a restraining order." He huffed in exasperation. I stood up abruptly, sending the chair I was in skidding backwards. Several officers looked up. Bracing my fists on his desk, I leaned in real close to his face, and bared my teeth in a feral snarl. "Listen to me you yellow bellied, little shit. There won't BE any actual harm coming to that little girl. You get me, son? I promised you the other day that I'd catch you without that badge on, and by God I ain't forgot. If you won't handle it, then I'll handle it MY way. This is the last time you'll hear from me until I call for a hearse for this sorry sumbitch. He targeted my woman, and I damn well take care of what's MINE." I growled lowly. When I straightened and turned, helping Taryn stand, he finally found his voice. "I can't let you do that.." his voice was shaky. "I dare you to try and stop me..." I challenged him, and we left. Taryn was quiet and calm on the ride to her apartment to pack. "Cat got your tongue Baby?" I asked softly. She shook her head. "Nope. Just... finally relaxed about all this." She said simply. "Really?" I asked skeptically. "I'm still terrified. But I know that you'll handle it. I feel safer having you in control, than the Sherriff's department honestly. You'd never let me down, Brantley." She said and took my hand in hers. She bat those pretty eyes of hers at me, and by God if I didn't feel 10 foot tall and bullet proof. If Taryn trusted me enough to protect her, then I damn sure wasn't gonna let her down.
