"DIDN'T ANYONE EVER TELL you to turn your phone off while hunting?" I whisper-growled at Brian.

"Shut up, Bae!" He grumbled at me, pressing the 'accept' button on the call he received from a name I haven't seen in a while. Jenny.

Sighing, I hunkered down into my bed of leaves angrily. Apparently Brian doesn't care about this trip as much as I do. At least I'm serious about it. I actually want to hunt, not talk to my clingy ex. I-with certainty-did not want to listen to any of Brian's conversation with that... girl, so I stuffed my earbuds in my ears and turned the volume up on my phone as loud as it could go. So loud, that I couldn't hear Brian's anxious voice over the deafening classical music, until his hand flew to my shoulder in an attempt to get my attention.

My head snapped up, and I saw Brian with rounded eyes, his phone on the ground, staring into the forest. I followed his trail of vision, seeing something that would ultimately turn my life into a whirlwind.

"Oscar, she's hurting you!" A boy around fifteen hissed at his best friend. Oscar lunged forward, catching him by his shirt just as his eyes began to change.

"Luke, stop," Oscar's voice was deadly calm; the voice of a soon to be Alpha. A voice that cannot be disobeyed. Luke's head bent down unwillingly, and angry tears welled in his eyes.

"Oscar, leave me alone." Luke's voice was hurt and his face showed the betrayal he felt. Oscar shook his head once, mumbled sorry, and backed away from his friend. Right after he was let out of Oscar's hold, Luke barrel rolled out of the window beside him. Oscar watched as Luke shifted, fur growing across his body and his clothes exploding behind him. At the sight of his best friend doing this, Oscar's eyes narrowed, the gold medallion flickering like two flames about to have gasoline poured onto them.
