So that was it. From a simple museum trip to a brand new life with all this magic, monsters, and defending humanity stuff. I mean I like that kind of stuff. In video games atleast. Now? I don't know how I'll handle this. I'm Zander. Zander Smith.

Now all of you are probably thinking, if I'm so unsure why did I agree to stay. The answer is simple. My parents. I haven't seen them in 3 months. Ian told us that our parents were all sent on the same mission 3 months ago and it was just recently that they went missing. What kind of mission took them that long? And why did they just went missing? I was hoping that by staying here and practicing this magic power the three of us all supposedly have, we could find them. I just don't know if I'll be able to do this. I mean Chris and Ana handled that lion thing back then quite well. Me? Helpless. I don't even know if I actually have powers.

"Hey, still awake?" a voice called to me. I looked to the left and saw Chris sitting on his bed. We were still roomates. Just like the good old days. When things were normal. It feels like those days are way behind us now.
"Yeah." I answered. "Finding it hard to fall asleep here."
"Same. This place feels... different."

Heck yeah it was. Well aside from the scenery and all. I don't even think we're still in Arcaneville. When we arrived Ian told me I was the first to wake up. He toured me around outside the guild temple and I saw that there was a forest to the east of the temple. To the west was a wide field of some kind and a path that lead to a lake. What feels different about the place is that you can feel this strange prscence all around you. And it felt warm and peaceful even. I guess we're not just used to that kind of feeling. Back at the dorm it was always cold and musty.

"So what's bothering you?" Chris asked me looking worried.
"Nothing." I replied. "I just, can't sleep that's all."
"You sure?" He asked again.
"Always can tell when I'm nervous huh?" I told him. Chris sighed and shook his head.
"That's cause you're usually the calm and level headed one. When you're nervous you stick out like a sore thumb." Chris said with a smile on his face. "Plus, you always have the same look on your face whenever that happens." He added.
"What kind of look?" I asked.
"Like a kid who lost his balloon." And with that he laughed. "So what's wrong?"
"Nothing. I just can't process things just yet. It's alot to take in you know." I told him.
"Yeah. I admit it's all pretty crazy." He answered back.
"Yet you seem so calm." I noted. "I mean after finding out about our parents, it had me shook up."

He seemed to think about what I said. The whole time we've been here Chris didn't seem bothered by anything. First of all, the fact that our parents were still actually alive. It had me and Ana shook up, yet he seemed to take it quite well. Surprised, but not as affected by the news like the two of us. Then there was the fact that he and Master Varus shared the same last name. I wonder if they were related to each other? Then the fact that all of this was real. Magic, monsters, all of it. It's just crazy.

"Yeah I admit. I'm a bit scared and confused by all of this." He admitted. "I admit that the news about our parents got to me as well. But..." He paused and looked at me.
"But what?" I asked.
"I have you guys with me." He answered.
"Us?" I asked in surprise.
"Yeah. With you guys around I feel more confidet. More sure of myself. My friends are here. That's what I thought about. And that's what matters now. And as long as we're together there's nothing we can't do. I just wish we were all here." He looked down. I knew who he was talking about.
"Christine?" I asked.
"Yeah. Christine."

Christine Vermillion. She was one of our friends. The four of us were always together. Then she just disappeared. Last we heard she moved to a different school. That was three months ago. The exact same time our parents went M.I.A. on their mission...

Wait. Three months? "Could it be possible?" I said aloud.
"What is it?" Chris asked.
No way. There's no way the two things could be related. I mean it's just so coincidental. But I can't shake the feeling that there may be a link between our parents' and Christine's dissappearance. I couldn't tell Chris about it just yet. I mean, I'm not so sure about the idea as well.
"I-its nothing." I lied. "Don't worry about it."
"You seem pretty worried about it." He told me.
"No. Really. It's nothing."
"Well if you say so." He yawned. "Well I'm gonna try to get some sleep. We have to wake up early tomorrow." And he lied down on his bed.
"Yeah. Let's not worry too much. One thing at a time."
"Look who's talking." He said. "But yeah. One thing at a time. For now let's focus on learning about our powers."
"You really think we'll be able to do this? We didn't even know about all of this till now." I told him.
"Hey. One thing at a time remember?" Chris told me.
"Yeah. You're right." I answered. "No sense worrying."
"Exactly. Now get some sleep man. Or atleast try to." He turned around and covered himself with his blanket.

Well one thing's for sure. Things are going to get far more interesting from now on. We're here now and we need to focus on mastering so called powers. Then, maybe. We can find our parents. I closed my eyes to sleep. But I still can't help but wonder... No. No, not now. I'm not even sure about my theory. I'll just have to leave it be. I tried to forget about it. I thought it would take forever but I finally drifted off to sleep.
