"Don't worry about it, we'll be fine"
Or at least she says so. I'm not sure she feels it.
"Do you really think so, Laura?"
"Sure, we'll stay here and Ross will go on tour and you and I will get to spend time together, and everything will be alright eventually"
I stay in silence.
I still have one question that won't leave my mind
"Laura, do you love him?"
She looks at me with a calm expression
"Well, love as in romantic love? No, I don't. I can't, in fact. Everything seems wrong about it."
"So..."
"Court, what I'm saying is that people seem always to be looking for love everywhere. Since I was young everyone asks me if there's any boy I like. So let me tell you, people should just stop telling girls there's always a prince charming to rescue them. There's not. And you need to be able to rescue yourself in real life."
"So you're saying..."
"Love is anything but a lie"
"Laura, love is what makes life less shitty. I don't care if it's in a romantic way. In fact romantic love leaves me uneasy but love is so much more than that."
"I take it that you're in love with Ross, Court?"
"Well, you're wrong.
I'm not in love with him
But I love him. And that's enough"
"I feel the same way."
