I continued to sketch for a while. The picture evolved from just a raven, to a raven eating a human eye. Amelia always was so grossed out when ever I would draw this kind of stuff, but in a creepy way I kinda found it amusing. I found the quote "Art should disturb the comfortable and comfort disturbed". Very true.
Around 11 my eyes began to get heavy so I decided to go to sleep. I slid my sketch book under my pillow along with my pencil and laid down . It didn't take long for me to fall into a deep sleep. I dreamt the same dreamless dream as always.
The next morning my alarm sounded like a bomb getting ready to explode. I smacked the snooze button, hopping for a little bit more rest before I was forced to go back to school. I laid in bed for what felt like one second before the alarm went off again. This time more annoyed then the last I sat up and turned the alarm off. I sat there for a few minutes unsure of what I should do. The clock read 7:10 so I stretched my arms up wide, then peeled myself out of bed. The sky was still waking up, there was a faint greyness to it and the sun wasn't shining so bright. I walked into the kitchen hoping to find a poptart, only to be let down. My mom was making eggs so I figured that eggs would have to do. My mom was a thin lady with curly cole black hair and a pale complexion like mine. She was wearing a plain olive dress that matched her eye color perfectly.
"How much longer till breakfast?" I said. "Not too long, I'll have your father call you when it's ready." I made a face of absolute disdain when she mentioned him. She noticed my unpleasant look and apparently she didn't approve. "Now come on, he is you father. At least treat him like it." My lip curled as I thought about the fact that I was related to such a monster. "Well I wish he wasn't, that's for sure." I completely despised my father. He was a thick man and he had to have at least 5 chins. He was always in and out of jail for doing things that were completely stupid. One example was driving around town completely under the influence when a ride was offered to him. Whenever he was home he would be so drunk that he couldn't even see straight. He was unemployed and to make up for not having something to do, he was always eating like a fat pig. I did not know what my mother saw in him. When I would say something she would always make up some kind of excuse for him.
After hearing my remark my mother rolled her eyes and replied "Well he is and he tries very hard, you shouldn't be saying stuff like that." "When does he ever try? He tried to get a job but he failed so he gave up on doing it and everything else other than drinking and eating, and our family is no exception." My mother went red with anger but she had nothing that she could say since it was the truth so she looked back down at the eggs and didn't say anything. I walked back into my room feeling more annoyed than before. Mornings were definitely not my thing. I grabbed a fresh change of clothes than walked to the bathroom to take a shower.
After my warm shower I was feeling more relaxed. I went back into the kitchen once I had changed into my clothes. There was a plate sat aside and my mom had already picked everything up. They must have eaten while I was in the shower. I didn't mind though. I was glad that I missed seeing them too.
I ate my eggs and chased it down with some orange juice. After eating my meal I begun to walk to school, not even bothering to think about saying goodbye to my mom or dad. The warm sun had come out a bit more and it wasn't too cold. I walked to school in silence till I met the school. Everyone waited outside talking and enjoying the weather. I skimmed through the crowd looking for one person. Bingo I thought as I spotted her. I begun to walk to Amelia, and she walked towards me.
"Hey" I said "Hi, todays so hot, I feel like I'm dying", she complained. "Oh, just ignore it, we will be inside any time now", I informed her. She fanned herself with her hand and stood there next to me waiting for the doors to open. We stood there for a few minutes waiting, then at 8:20 the bell rang and everyone burst into the school. Me and her both went to our lockers and put away our bags then went to class. It was a long day. I felt like running out the window and going somewhere.
Once school had ended I walked home with Amelia. She was talking about finals which were in 3 weeks. I sighed realizing how unprepared I was. I barely passed them last semester and I wasn't sure I would this time. Once we reached my house we sat on my porch and pulled out our sketchbooks and drew, like always. Her mom came to pick her up and I gave her a tight hug. Then she ran to her mom's car, and once she looked back she gave a sad sigh then entered the car. I waved to her as she drove away.
I walked back inside and went straight to my room, as always. Once I was there I grabbed my phone and texted Amelia. It was friday so I was going to ask if I could stay the night. I waited for her answer for about an hour and I didn't get a reply so I figured that she must be busy or something, so I threw my phone side and finished my drawing. It didn't take me long since I didn't really feel like trying my best on it at the moment. Once I finished I decided to watch some anime, since my favorite anime made a new season last week and I hadn't watched it yet.
